I love Monday’s

Some people dread when Mondays rear it’s ugly head around the corner, but for me, Mondays are my rest days. I use my time to catch up on sleep, read and respond to emails, and reset my brain. Summer time is finally ending, it has been a busy one and I am thankful that it is almost September. My kiddos started school today, and I cant believe how fast they are growing up!

I had to rest because this weekend was full of facepainting and pinup hair! I had the pleasure of facepainting at the Pridefest here in Norfolk on Saturday! I was there for 6 hours! I saw a few friends and even ran into an old friend from high school!

I wish I had more pics, but was just too busy! But I found some of these online. I heard Deborah Cox singing and everyone was dancing and having a great time.

I even met a few people that follow me on my instagram, and they made me feel like a lil celebrity, which totally made my day.
I got up early on both saturday and sunday to do some fun pinup hair on a young model, Madison, she was the official Pin Up Girl for the Hot Rod Show in Hampton.

We are having our Grand Opening of LAHCIA STUDIOS this coming Saturday and I am so excited about it. Even though we don’t have everything the exact way we want, it is a working progress and we want to go ahead and have it. The sooner the better! Now that the summer is winding down, I can shift my focus on the shop. It’s time to let people know we are open for business and ready to help you with all your beauty and art needs!
I have started painting our windows at the shop until we get our vinyl up. I haven’t been up there much due to my busy schedule…but this is what I have up so far. (Don’t judge me, this is my first time painting  a window display.

Painted Faces and Skin Wars

Summer time is usually the busiest for facepainters and this summer was no exception. The past few years, my love for art and painting has expanded. If you would’ve told me 5 years ago that I would be a full time artist, self employed, doing hair, makeup, face and body painting and opening my own shop, I wouldn’t have believed you. I have truly been blessed to get to where I am today and it is just the beginning.
I wanted to show some pictures from this past summer that I managed to take of my facepainting adventures. Enjoy!

Most of the time, I am not able to stop and take a photo, but these were some I was able to take a snapshot of.
I really want to take my painting to the next level and invest in more paints so I can do more body painting. Have you guys seen SKIN WARS? It’s a new body painting competition and it’s awesome. Check out some of these images:

And what is really cool, is my favorite youtube guru, Kandee Johnson hosts the aftershow “The Naked Truth” on youtube, where she talks about the highlights of the show.
I cant find as many images as I would like to to show you guys, I think the show is too new to have any! hahaha
Have you guys tuned in to see it? What do you think?
As for me, I have tons of ideas in mind for Halloween looks this year, so I need to get to planning. Have a great Wednesday yall and see ya in the next post!

Hopeless Dreamer

Even though my birthday is not until Sept 1st, I decided to treat myself to an early birthday present this past weekend!

Virginia Beach had their 2nd Annual Tattoo Fest, and of course, I had to go! I missed the tattoo expo in Hampton that was earlier this year, so I could not miss another one. I had a pretty good time, said hello to some of the artists I know, and ran into a few old friends. I missed the body paint contest that I wanted to see, but I found some pictures of it online which was pretty cool. I am glad that bodypainting is starting to become more popular here.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to get tattooed or not and had not planned on it. I was contemplating either getting a piercing or a tattoo. The artist who did my head tattoo was booked up, so I looked around and came across an artist from NY that specialized in lettering. I decided to get my knuckles done, which is ass-backwards for me to do it, considering I don’t even have sleeves yet, but oh well, I guess that is my way of rebelling hahaha.
I haven’t officially made my bucket list yet, but I know that one of the things on my list was to get a tattoo during a convention. I decided to get “HOPELESS DREAMER” across my knuckles, plus I needed to get something covered up. Here are some pics! IMG_6716IMG_6717IMG_6719IMG_6721IMG_6722IMG_6723
We decided on a carnival style lettering, which is my favorite and it is what we use for our LAHCIA STUDIOS logo. I wanted to have some color in it too, I didn’t want just black lettering, so I chose blue. Since the letters were one short on my pinky finger, I had him do a crescent moon and it turned out great!
I am not going to lie, knuckles HURT LIKE HELL!!!!!! What was I thinking???? hahaha It hurt more than my head tattoo, especially the pinky fingers. But, so worth it to me because it means a lot to me.
I think I am going to start treating myself to a tattoo on my birthday every year, well at least the bigger pieces. hahaha. I’ll be 31 this year, and I am actually very happy to be in my 30’s. I know there is so much that awaits for me and I am excited to see what it holds for me.
Well, I am off to go to the shop, I have tons to do! I hope you have a productive Tuesday! Thanks for stopping by!

August Rush

The summer is nearing the end and we are already in August, can you believe it? We are approaching my favorite time of year: Autumn! September through December is just my favorite time of year. School starts up again, the weather gets cooler, the leaves change and we start layering up our clothes and pulling on the boots. I have been quite busy as you can imagine and I have not been keeping up with my blog, which is almost unheard of if you are an avid reader of mine.
We are still in the process of opening LahCia Studios, which we are planning our Grand Opening really soon. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks. We have our sinks installed and our shop is slowly getting decorated. Here is some photos for you to check out!

You can see we have had a few of our clients in while we are under construction. I have found some cool stuff to decorate and paint, such as my mannequin, some chairs, and other various types of furniture. Y’all know I am a HUGE thrifter, and I found a lot of things thrifting such as this cool tool box that I painted hot pink, my drafting desk, that big mannequin, 2 high back chairs, a handpainted screen divider and so much more I cant remember.
Here are some hair before and afters too of a few appointments:

I am working on a design to paint our shop windows. This weekend coming up is the tattoo expo, so I am pretty excited about that, although I wish I knew about the body paint contest, because I would’ve entered! Oh well, there is always next year.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy your day and the rest of your week!
