In LOVE with LITA

Jeffrey Campbell has been around for a hot minute, a hot ten years actually that this brand has been around, bringing creative and funky designs to our culture. I was doing a bit of research and came across the bio of this small family owned business that started out small and branched out and now offers their brand internationally and is highly sought out by fashionistas and celebrities worldwide.

I cant get online without reading one of my fellow bloggers and you tubers that they have a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Lita Boots. And I have to say, at first I looked at these and said "WHAT THE......?"

But after reading reviews and seeing videos, I gotta say they are growing on me. There are so many varieties too, and Here are a few that really caught my eye. What do you guys think?

There is even a blog you can check out too on their websites above

I was invited to go to a photoshoot yesterday with a local body painter/graffiti artist named SOPE to assist in painting a few models for ICON Limosines that is doing a Calender Photo Shoot to showcase all their fabulous Limos! (see more at http://www.rideiconlimo.com/ )

Tidewater's Only Pink Hummer Limo
http://pinkh2.com
The shoot started out at 8am and finished around 7:45pm, so it was ALL Day! Food and music was provided for a fun atmosphere in the graffiti filled workspace of the INKY DINX Studio, where the shoot was held. http://www.inkydinxprinting.com/

There is a PARTY BUS too!
There were about 10 models or more- after a while, I lost count. I was mainly there to do body painting- but I brought all my kits with me- JUST IN CASE- and I am glad that I did. I ended up helping out with hair and makeup- a TRIPLE THREAT! hahaha

There was alot of body painting with topless models for each month- I wont show too many pictures, but I did manage to take a few while working- I really didnt have time.

Thats all I will show for a sneak peek- will have to wait for a calender to see the rest!

This coming weekend, I will be doing body painting for the Lawrence Brothers Hairshow for an amazing stylist! More on that to come next week!

Thanks for stopping by as always!

VA Fashion Week Urban Night

This past week and last week, VA Fashion Week has been taking place, and I wasnt able to go to the main shows which are on Saturday, I was able to squeeze in going last thursday evening. VA Fashion Week has been going on for about 4 years. I actually met the producer and her daughter who run it and they told us a bit about it since I only knew just a lil. (we sat right next to them in the front)

You can check out more at their website: http://vafashionweek.net/

Jermie came along with me and we made it a date night. We sat up front and had perfect seats, the way it was set up is that the models would come down the escalator, walk the runway, then go back up the escalator. They had a dj and sponsors for the event.

The  only thing I didnt like was that other people could see where the curtain wasnt and they were quite distracting. But other than that, I enjoyed it. They showcased a few main stores such as DTLR (Down Town Locker Room) and IDentity. Greek Fashions which is local showed and I have to say I liked alot of their graphic Tee's.

Another designer who made leggings had some interesting designs which some of which I wanted to buy right there on the spot!!!! I wished I had heard her name or company but the music was so loud and so was the microphone I couldnt hear. And I guess it doesnt help that I am partially deaf as well.

This is from the website of three of the designers that I really liked:

Issa Bolden/Greek Fashion (Portsmouth)
Issa Bolden Issa Bolden was born in Portsmouth Va in 1981, and attended Norfolk State University and TCC, where he received a degree in Web design and Video Production. Issa has been a Professional Videographer for over 6 years. He always wanted to start a clothing line, 2 years ago he made that happen. In 2009 Issa started his Greek Fashion Graphic T shirt line. Since then, his designs have been featured in two fashion shows with the help of partners Dionne Bass and Danielle Bass. And in November of 2011 he will be showcasing the Greek Fashion line and some hand made Pieces in both VA Fashion Week's Urban Show and in the Lawrence Brothers Hair and Fashion show.

Brennan Crick/International Rebel Club (Newport News)
Brennan Crick, aka Cr1k is from Newport News Va. This young artist in a graphic design world started off as a graphic designer. Currently Designing for AKOO (T.I.'s clothing line) also designed for other urban brands such as Playcloths, Azzure, shmack, and Imperial Junkie. From there, knowledge was gained to have the resources to come out with an independent clothing brand. With screen printing as a background, Cr1k built his own screen printing press and stared International Rebel Club clothing out of his garage. Rebel Club is a brand of independence and following no boundaries or rules of fashion. No trends or fads. A street wear brand that has a statement that says "we answer to No One"

For the rest of the show......

There was a hair and makeup competition, which  wasnt too bad I must say. It definetly makes me want to enter for next year (which I will be!) There was an accesories designer too who made earrings out of fabric and other crafts. It mas my gears turning to enter not only for hair and makeup but for possibly a clothing line. We will see though- I cant always do everything at once. hahahaha

After the show, we walked around the art exhibit that was nearby and I snapped a few photos:

Look at this HUMUNGOUS BOOT!!!!

Thats a BIG BANANA!!!
Someone is SERIOUSLY addicted here. LOL
Look at this glittery GIANT paintbrush!!!! This would be an awesome statue in my front yard, what do you think???
That was my lil trip to Waterside, Norfolk last week. I am glad I got to go, I was able to meet some local boutique owners and models and photographers. I am already running out of my business cards. Time to go order some more!

Thanks for coming with me on my trip! Hope to see you again soon!

Body Paint

!!!WARNING!!!
THERE IS PARTIAL NUDITY ON THIS POST IN THE FORM OF BODY PAINT ART.
THIS IS NOT TO OFFEND ANYONE AND THIS IS AN EXPRESSION OF ART

I once worked at a custom airbrush shop back in Colorado and I loved every second I was there. I did learn some really cool techniques and did a lil bit of graphic and fashion design. That is where I learned to airbrush and played with alot of paint and color.

I have been doing alot of graphic makeup and regular makeup applications, but there is alot of creativity and freedom in body painting. Yes, I said body painting. A month or two ago, I met someone who does body painting full time, and after talking to him and seeing his work, it inspired me that I wanted to do more body paint too. In Colorado, we had many clients come in to get their bodies airbrushed or painted for mainly football games, but also holidays.

A couple weeks ago, after a client seen some of my work, offered me to work with her for a show where I can paint 3 models. Of course I said yes! I am super excited since it is so much fun to do body painting. I love to see my art on people even if it is not permanent (YET, hahahaha)

I just ordered my body paint this morning and cannot wait for it to come in. In case anyone reading this is wondering where do you even get body paint from, well, keep reading because I will share with you!

There are many different brands you can use for body painting. What you want to look for is paint that is not going to rub off easily from sweat of rubbing. You can find body paint in any party or halloween store, but I find that to be a lil messy at times.

I have used Ben Nye Magicolor before and really found it to work best. There are many colors to choose from and has versatility to it. I can take a paint brush, or a sponge and apply it to the body or I can thin it with the Ben Nye Finisher Seal and use it in an airbrush, which is nice!

International Fun Shop
I really liked this website because of the variety of products, the price is not too bad and that they have served many celebrities, shows, movies and more. (You can check out more here for media)

I just ordered some body paint in white, black, red, yellow and blue. I can mix any color I may need from there. But  I am not getting paid to mention this site, I just wanted to share with you where I bought my makeup from so you can check it out! There are even tutorials on their website to help explain how to apply some of the makeup. You can sign up also to receive coupons or discounts through your email.

Once again, here is their website- check it out. http://www.fun-shop.com/

Thanks for stopping by and I hope this inspires you to do some body painting if you havent already!

“I think if human beings had genuine courage, they'd wear their costumes every day of the year, not just on Halloween. Wouldn't life be more interesting that way? And now that I think about it, why the heck don't they? Who made the rule that everybody has to dress like sheep 364 days of the year? Think of all the people you'd meet if they were in costume every day. People would be so much easier to talk to - like talking to dogs. ”

Motivation

This single phrase on this photo circulated among many people online and I just had to share it with my viewers.

We always find excuses when it comes to doing things- I am definetely guilty of this too. Especially when it comes to projects, homework (when I was in college) or other boring chores that I dont wanna do, like clean out the college or even my car. hahaha

Many of us procrastinate, wanna sleep in all morning or push off something that you say you will do tomorrow and then forget about it altogether.

My friend Terry

She made this for me
I had posted this online, and a friend of mine (Terry from the picture above mine) from school saw it when she was laying in bed, contemplating whether or not to come to school that day, and because she saw this image, she came to school and said that it made her day, even though she didnt want to come, she knew that she needed to be at school.

She hated me for posting it while all still loving that I did post it. It made her day and in a way it made my day too. Its nice to know when I can make someone smile.

So I hope this made your day! Enjoy some of these quotes that I find motivational as well. And as always, thanks for stopping by!

We shall never have more time. We have, and always had, all the time there is. No object is served in waiting until next week or even until tomorrow. Keep going... Concentrate on something useful.
Arnold Bennett quotes

Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest of diseases and its toll on success and happiness is heavy.
Wayne Gretzky quotes

You've done it before and you can do it now. See the positive possibilities. Redirect the substantial energy of your frustration and turn it into positive, effective, unstoppable determination.
Ralph Marston quotes

Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results.
Willie Nelson quotes

Quality Time

I meant for this blog to be about art, fashion, beauty and other things and lately it seems to be more personal. I hope yall dont mind. I had created a personal blog separately but I didnt like it as much trying to keep up with two blogs.

My two days off seemed to have flown by in the blink of an eye- as usual. In between driving around and entertaining a 6 and 7 year old, going to the park, doing laundry, cooking and cleaning, I somewhat managed to edit a couple videos and do some research for an upcoming hair show I will be doing some makeup/body paint work (enter me JUMPING and SCREAMING!)

I also got to stop by Studio Evolve to see an old friend from high school and support their Shoot For Good Art Event. Stopped by a friends house to help her out since she hurt her back and also one of my friends gave me a sewing machine that was just chillin in her attic.  (YAY!!!) now I can pretend that I am on Project Runway hahahahaha

I didnt get things done that I needed to but I am waiting for my body paint to get shipped then I can get to work. I cant wait for you guys to see what I will be doing.

And just a heads up, for anyone passing through or if your a regular visitor, I am going to be creating a different website showcasing all my art: paintings, drawings, portfolio work, graphic makeup work- so basically a business page so that I will be freelance in this area of Hampton Roads, VA. I will still have this personal blog up and will continue to update it i will just have more tabs you can visit!

As always thanks for stopping by! I will leave you with this video and lyrics because I just cant stop listening to this. I am in love with this girl/band- The Pretty Reckless

Lyrics - You ~ Taylor Momsen

You don't want me, no
You don't need me
Like I want you, oh
Like I need you

And I want you in my life
And I need you in my life

You can't see me, no
Like I see you
I can't have you, no
Like you have me

And I want you in my life
And I need you in my life

You can't feel me, no
Like I feel you
I can't steal you, no
Like you stole me

And I want you in my life
And I need you in my life

For Us and For You

Following my earlier post of "Graduating Already", I felt that a video with pictures is just not enough.

Since I am the geek who loves to make videos, I went around and got a few words of the girls I started school with.  These girls, who I barely knew sitting next to in a classroom, are now among those I call "family".

Ms. Christina- we were her first CORE class

We have laughed together, cried together and even though we may not get along all the time, and we get on each others nerves, we have each others back no matter what.

I wish I could post ALL the pictures I have because all these pictures hold memories. People make fun of me because I am always taking pictures. The reason I do, is because I regret not having pictures during the times I would have liked to remember. Life is too short, so I take pictures to remember it all.

So many doors are already being opened not only for me, but for anyone who wants to take that risk and go for their dreams.  So this is for all of you, from us. Good luck to you
