Cities of Night Fashion Show

My friend, Nick who just graduated wants to put on a fashion show at the school where the theme is "Cities of Night" and fashion, makeup and hair will be focused on the trends of New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo and London. We had a casting call for models last night and only a few of us showed up. So, we all put our heads together and just dived into planning this bad boy. Since Nick has graduated from the school, My friend, Jinaki "Naki Saki" are going to help head it up while he is working at a salon, since we both still attend the school.

We set the date for our fashion show which will be September 25th, Sunday from 6pm to 8pm. There will be a $5 admission fee, which half of that will be going to charity.  We are hoping to have 20 models, (4 models per City) but of course the more the merrier.

I am planning on doing makeup and background props and now I volunteered to help with the flyers and programs which I love to do! I get to indulge in my graphic designer geekyness side!!! lol

So, I just got done putting together this flyer above just to start it out, I am sure I will have to tweak it and make a black and white version so that we can get print out flyers in just black and white.

I have always loved planning fashion shows, in fact when I attended the fashion design program at the Virginia Beach Technical Education Center many years ago (10 years ago ), I had directed the shows both years I attended. So, this is right down my alley and I am excited to work on this, which will of course help towards building my portfolio and website (which will be coming soon)

Well, it is about to be 2am in the morning, so let me get off of here and get my butt to bed! Happy dreams!

March Core Class Fashion Show

I feel like all I do is apologize when I start a blog post because my posts are not up as much as I would like them to be.  I am so busy!!!  I didnt have class tonight, and I just finished with my homework with Art History, so as promised to the March Core class that just finished their core, I have finally uploaded their fashion show that I video recorded.

I picked a spot up front, but I wasnt able to record as good as I would have liked, but oh well. The new class rocked it! They chose to do a "decades" theme starting from the 1930's. They all had great energy and all danced to the music! I have gotten to know a few of the girls and they are all awesome! I am glad they made it through to Core!
Watch their show below!

The new Core class starts next week, so I will of course record that one as well! Thanks for stopping by!

Our theme was high school cliques:

We made it through!

Part of the Rudy & Kelly Paul Mitchell  Cosmetology School, the first 6 weeks of attending is called CORE class. In this class we get a small taste of what we are going to learn while attending the school, such as haircutting, perms, relaxers, highlights, color and so much more.  We entered the class, about 20 of us on the first day, not knowing anything about each other and at the end of the 6 weeks, we became a family. It may sound cheesy, but its true. It is not very often that you get in a room full of women and we have a bond. We are all adults, there isnt any drama. Sure, we may get on each other's nerves but all in all we truely care about one another. When we are struggling, we know we can call on each other to help. These women I got to know, and I opened myself up to them and they accepted me, non judging and to me, that is the meaning of true friendship.

For our last week of CORE, we had to perform a practical, where we are tested on our skills that we had learned up to that point, and we also had a written test. We even had to do our first male haircut! But the highlight of our CORE was our last day, where we were able to hold a fashion show.

So as a group we came up with a theme: highschool cliques. We had cheerleaders, a geek, some gangstas, a few hippies and then the Plastics. Not everyone was comfortable being on stage and in front of a crowd, but everyone had a part. We all helped with hair and makeup and came up with a skit and it turned out awesome! I had it videorecorded but somehow youtube and FB will not load it. I will continue to try. But here are a few pictures

Thanks for taking the time to read and I hope you have a great day!
