Face and Body Art Convention

Here is a recent custom tattoo drawing I designed for a friend of mine and her husband. This is a tribute tattoo to a dear friend of theirs and they wanted something that would remind them of him, for he was a simple man that loved to hunt and fish and it was an honor to design this for them.
Here is a progress collage.
I am trying to get all caught up on other commissioned projects before I start working in a salon.
I had to order some new facepaint supplies because I finally used up my old Ben Nye Paint, and could justify getting some new paint! I got an essential palette just to get me through until I can buy the colors individually.
I ordered from Silly Farm, which is one of the top sites to order from and their prices are pretty decent. They have tons of stuff, so if you’re a facepainter, I would definitely recommend checking out this site.
This palette is $30 and standard shipping was only $7. It is not as big as the individual containers, but it states online that you can get at least 100 applications out of them. So, I will give it a try when I get it and do a review if you guys would like. I’m planning on painting some models for the opening of the salon next month and I am excited to show yall. I need to build my kit up again. I have checked out some other face painter kits and they are impressive!
I was checking out Silly Farm, and on the side bar, there was an ad for the Face and Body Art International Convention next year! I seriously want to save up to go to this bad boy! Who wants to take a road trip?
It is not until next year, so I better start saving! hahaha Well, I am off to go work on more projects! See you again soon!

I Paint a Mean Face

Howdy yall! This past weekend, I was pretty busy painting faces and I gotta say that I love my job! I love that I get to play with paint and bring a smile to someone’s face no matter what the age. The weather turned out gorgeous once the rain passed. I was able to record a quick lil (somewhat a tutorial) video before heading out. I remembered to take a few snapshots too of a few faces, because I always forget to or I don’t have time.

If you’re a local in the area of Hampton Roads, and were wondering if I do birthday parties or other events, the answer is YES! I do! You can comment or email me to inquire about rates and scheduling at

Jermie and I were working our gigs and while I was facepainting, He was dressed up as Sponge Bob and Elmo. hahahaha I couldn’t help but laugh at him.

The best thing about the beach is all the cool shows that we put on. I didn’t work Saturday, so we checked out the fire show they had and Matthias got to be one of their helpers.

Look at Bella Boo! She has really gotten into skateboarding, so has Matti, but I wasn’t able to get a pic of him. But I think it will be a while before he skateboards because he fell off a trampoline today and broke his arm!

He is being a trooper! He is going to get a green cast! I am going to paint it of course if he wants me to.

Don’t forget to check out my latest video below and subscribe so you don’t miss any adventures in “The Life of An Artist”

As always, I leave you with some motivation! Thanks for reading and see you again soon!

Getting through the Cold and a Cold

It has been what I feel like forever since I have blogged, but I think its only been a few days. I have been busy but have also been sick. Hubby caught something that was going around from work and brought it home for me to catch. Nothing too major, just achy body, sore throat and crazy congestion. I have been taking Dayquil and Nyquil like clockwork and drinking tons of fluids.

I hope everyone’s week has been going well.  I have been pretty busy in between a few gigs.  I taught a small face painting class where my hubby and a few other guys volunteered to be models for a few easy kid friendly designs.

I had even brought some of my beauty school mannequins for some people to practice on. We did a few designs that are quick and easy, perfect for a gig that you have to paint a lot of people in a short amount of time. I also prepared a video of me doing 5 face painting designs, but I need to edit it. I am hoping I will feel up to it tomorrow.

I had a photo shoot with Roger Mitchell’s Motiontography and was able to work with a new model. When I get pictures I will post when I can! I scheduled a few new gigs for the future where I will be making a show background prop and another body paint job. I have to say I love having clients return to me for the work I have done for them in the past. There is not a bigger compliment.

I have also won my second tattoo contest! It was on this design which I think I have posted before, but if you are just tuning in, here is the design that won!

I also received my Valentine Swap package from the Blogger Swap, but I need to make a video then I will post it. I hope that the girl I swapped with has received my package.

Since I have been laid up in bed, I have been getting caught up on all my shows and getting stuck on new ones: Walking Dead, Face OFF, Project Runway, Once Upon A Time, and I don’t remember what else. I am surprised I haven’t gotten cabin fever. Tons of stuff to do this week, so I need to get better! Just wanted to blog and let you know how I have been doing.

Thanks for stopping by! Xoxoxox, Cecilia

Face Tattoo

I got a new tattoo! Stars on my face, doin it up Kat Von D style.....Im just kidding! I decided to do my makeup different the other day since I was laid up in bed with a nasty summer cold. So, to feel better, I did my makeup on the bright side.

I love colored eyebrows

Almost time to recolor my hair again

I love the colors in my eyes, thinking about using this as inspiration for my next painting
I dont think I would get a face tattoo, but I think they look awesome! I was in Mickey D's with my zombies (aka my children hahaha) and a girl there thought it was a real tattoo, you shouldve seen her face when I told her it was makeup. LOL!

Here are some artistic people who REALLY Do have face tattoos. ENJOY!
You may recognize him from Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" Music Video

I am surprised the baby didnt come out with a tattoo or two :)

I hope this inspires you to have fun with makeup or maybe tattoos!

Quote of the day:

"Pain makes people change.
"The things that we go through in our lives teach us lessons for the betterment of the rest of our lives if we choose to learn from them. Pain makes us change, sometimes for good and sometimes the worse. In order to get over our addictions and faults in life we must endure pain most times to do so, but in the end if we fight through the pain that we experience and don't cave we will achieve the change in ourselves that we desire.

Do not be scared of pain, but instead endure it. Do not let pain deter you from the course in life that you want to take. Remember that pain is necessary in life and in order to change who you are you must experience some pain. Continue to push on, through the pain, and through the discomfort, never let pain make you stop, instead use it as motivation to keep pushing forward."
