Quote of the day:

Every one of us is going to be a special person to someone we meet in our lives. That doesn't necessarily mean that you are going to grow up and find your Mr. or Mrs. right at the perfect age of 25. It may mean that by following your dreams or goals that you set up for yourself in life that you inspire a nation to do the same. It may mean that as a single father or mother, the most important subject(s) of your life your children will look at you as a superhero. It may mean that your ideas or inventions help the world from generations to come with the survival of those who inhabit it.

We may never truly know how much of an effect that we have had on this world to this day, but you should know that you are definitely important to the people around you, or else they wouldn't be around you. Even if we fail to realize it, as members of society we all are important to our society, and that if we choose to work hard and fight for what we know is right, we will be even more important to it!

Geisha Girl

Yesterday at Paul Mitchell, there was a contest going on between students on who has the best makeup and hair for "Cosmetology Through Time" and we could pick whatever era we wanted to create a unique and timeless look. I paired up with my friend Carole, and we grabbed whatever supplies were out and went to work. We grabbed red, green and yellow toulle, red plastic beads, 2 packages of synthetic hair (or we call it weave) and a ton of bobby pins.

We wanted to go for something fun and different from what enyone else would do, so we decided to do a "Geisha Girl" theme. While Carole went to work to try and tame my bright "Vampire Red" hair, I started on my face makeup! We made a great team and it all came together.

There were other time era's too, including rocker, 80's, grecian and eqyptian. We used whatever we could to rock our look out. We took two draping capes and made a makeshift kimono out of it and wrapped toulle around my waist and Carole made a paper fan so I could fan  myself.  We had a mini show and the whole school voted on the best theme. When I walked across the stage, I walked really fast with tiny lil steps the way geisha's did wearing those tiny shoes. Everyone voted for the Geisha look and we won the contest for the day! It was excited! We got a gift card to a bakery nearby, but I dont really eat there so I gave it to Carole!

Quote of the Day:

Living life with regrets is in a sense, not really living life. Picture yourself trying to drive somewhere. Do you think that you would be able to make it safely from point a to point b by staring into the rearview mirror the whole drive? Of course not! We must use this as an example to the way we live our lives.

Sure we have all made mistakes, and sometimes we wish that things could have gone differently, but it is impossible to keep reliving these moments and expect to move forward in life. In order to move forward in life take the experiences from your past and use them as stepping blocks in order to reach your new goals and dreams. In other words, don't let your past hold you back, learn from your past and use it to help you further your future. Be who you are now, and not who you used to be.

Face Tattoo

I got a new tattoo! Stars on my face, doin it up Kat Von D style.....Im just kidding! I decided to do my makeup different the other day since I was laid up in bed with a nasty summer cold. So, to feel better, I did my makeup on the bright side.

I love colored eyebrows

Almost time to recolor my hair again

I love the colors in my eyes, thinking about using this as inspiration for my next painting
I dont think I would get a face tattoo, but I think they look awesome! I was in Mickey D's with my zombies (aka my children hahaha) and a girl there thought it was a real tattoo, you shouldve seen her face when I told her it was makeup. LOL!

Here are some artistic people who REALLY Do have face tattoos. ENJOY!
You may recognize him from Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" Music Video

I am surprised the baby didnt come out with a tattoo or two :)

I hope this inspires you to have fun with makeup or maybe tattoos!

Quote of the day:

"Pain makes people change.
"The things that we go through in our lives teach us lessons for the betterment of the rest of our lives if we choose to learn from them. Pain makes us change, sometimes for good and sometimes the worse. In order to get over our addictions and faults in life we must endure pain most times to do so, but in the end if we fight through the pain that we experience and don't cave we will achieve the change in ourselves that we desire.

Do not be scared of pain, but instead endure it. Do not let pain deter you from the course in life that you want to take. Remember that pain is necessary in life and in order to change who you are you must experience some pain. Continue to push on, through the pain, and through the discomfort, never let pain make you stop, instead use it as motivation to keep pushing forward."

Just a Peek

I got my copy of the photos taken from the Galaxy Photoshoot with Bella Donna Reese Photography. I have to say I am in love with how they turned out! She took over 50 photos, so now I have to pick JUST ONE to be entered for the contest, so I am going to wait to pick the one until I have all photos from all 3 photo shoots. But here is a sneak peek of two photos that Charisse from Bella Donna Reese Photography edited.

I love how they turned out! I am thinking of doing more photoshoots once this contest is over. It would be so much fun! Tomorrow is my next photoshoot, and I am gonna get all my supplies together so I am not rushing around tomorrow like a chicken with its head cut off!

Gothic Bride Makeup and More

July has kicked off to a great start! I have really focused on my craft of hair and makeup. I got the chance to model for a friend of mine I attend Paul Mitchell with, named Rock Mims, for her makeup portfolio. The name of this theme was Emo Bride/Gothic inspired look. I had so much fun, check out some of the photos below:

This is my Favorite one!

I loved being apart of this! A few of my friends were her model as well, including Taylor whom I cut her fabulous Hot Summer haircut...see my before and after pics here.

Here are a few photos of her makeup...and Rock styled out that hair..it is sooooo fierce!

Her look was "India" Inspired

And since I am talking about makeup, I had my own makeup sessions with two of my models today in preparation for my photoshoots coming up in the next few weeks! I am editing them now, so I will load them in the next post!

Hope this inspires all you makeup artists to start working on your portfolio or add to yours!

Dual Action baby!

What is Dual Action do you ask???? Well, let me explain lol. If you followed my blog last year, I had bought a cheap airbrush kit from a guy on craigslist for $35 that he had bought from Home Depot. I had used it for a bit, but I was really limited in what I could do because it is a single action airbrush: meaning you press down on the lever and it just blows out air and you have to manually adjust how much comes out (little spray or big spray). I also lost some of the pieces that went to that airbrush gun so made it really hard to use.

Here is a pic so you can see what I am talkin about:
If that is something you think you can handle: you can buy it here for only $10.

So, instead I bought a dual action airbrush, which when you press the lever, you control the air and the flow of the air, making it easier to manage and easier to paint details or large areas and change it without having to stop and readjust.

I found this one for only $20

It just shipped today, so I should get it in a few days. If youre an airbrush artist, or looking to get started, try this set at this Link here. This does not include the compressor!

I am excited to get this airbrush. It is also a gravity feed, which means instead of a jar being screwed into the bottom, theres a lil "bowl" that just lets the paint go into the air flow (if you have ever had your nails airbrushes, it looks like that).

I use an airbrush for many things to include painting large areas, detailing smaller items, labeling my stuff with a stencil, and now that I am training to be a cosmetologist, I am going to be using it for airbrush tanning and airbrush makeup and body painting! Check out some images of art used with an airbrush!
