The Beauty Parlor

One of my fellow classmates, Dennis asked me to be a hair model for an interview at his dream salon to work at this past week for a technical interview. For hair stylists, when we are trying to get a job in a salon, we have to of course prove our savvy skills, so I jumped at the chance to help my friend out and be his model. I needed a hair cut and a new color too, so PERFECT TIMING!

His dream salon to work at is called the Beauty Palor owned and operated by Quincy Brown, here is his Facebook Link.  From the moment I walked into the salon, I felt at peace and right at home. I am very into Interior Design and fashion, and am a very visual person too.

We were set up in the other room towards the back and got to work (well, Dennis got to work on my hair!) He recolored my red using INKWORKS since it was fading and then did a very beautiful assymetrical cut with layers.

I am in LOVE with this SILVER SOFA!

Dennis and I waiting for my hair to process
He did such an amazing job on my hair and can really work that blow dryer! Here is the finished result that I LOVE!!!!

I am proud to say that Dennis got the job working at this amazing salon. Please check out their facebook page! They are located in downtown Norfolk in the "Art District" not too far from the Norfolk Scope and for those tattoo enthusiasts (like myself) Fusion Ink is a stone's throw away from The Beauty Parlor!

Stop by the salon, it is a cute, very chic, relaxing place to get your hair done! I know I will be going there for my haircut! I believe they offer massages as well. Check their facebook for a full list of services!

As always, my Sweet Surrender readers, thank you for stopping by and stay tuned for more updates from me!

On that Blue Kick

I know it has been a week or two since I have last posted on here, it has just been crazy! The past two weeks have been non stop. So, here is the first blog post to update yall on my hair. A few weeks ago I posted a blog about the hair cut and color I wanted and our school had a funraising event where our learning leaders will do our hair and all the money we pay goes towards our funraising campaign.

A few of the girls, Jinaki and Winter and myself all met up at Golden Corral and had breakfast....where I pigged out on pancakes, hashbrowns, BACON, fruit and coffee!!!! YUM!

Then we headed to the school and Christina got started on my Mane!

We went with a dark dark brown (4NN) for the all over color in the back and a few pieces on the side. Then double process application for the left side of my head.

After processing, Winter helped rinse it out and then I was off to Sal's chair for the haircut! I wanted the partial head shaved on my right side with a design shaved into it and triangular layers everywhere! I did cut off the length just because  my ends were really split!

Jinaki holding the hair that was cut from my right side! She was in more shock than me when I got my haircut!
Sal did an awesome job and I really love it! He had a really cool technique of twisting the hair in a section and then taking the razor and just chopping it off, leaving the hair to fall in a nice textured layered look! I wish I couldve caught it on video but the camera was dead :(

So, here is the result! I had him shave a star with the clippers..I love stars...its a lil off and not porportional but I love it!

I didnt get to do the blue part at school because I bought a color from Chi at Cosmo Prof in "Real Blue" so when I got home, I did a couple of foils with the blue, I let it process for about half an hour and washed it out. Since I do have some "box" color on my hair, some of the old color did not lift, so that is why the blonde is not as light, so the blue only took to my new growth area, either way I love it.

Tell me what you think! I hope that you get inspired to do something amazing and out the box like I did!

New Haircut Idea

For FUNraising at my school, (which I cant seem to stop talking about) On April 10th, our learning leaders will be available to do hair services on us, future professionals. I want Christina to color my hair. She is a real laid back learning leader, and whenever we have a question, she always helps!

Here is Christina pointing at my hair, which "Pink" the girl behind me got her ring stuck in my hair! lol
I made my appointment with her to do my color service, which I am planning on coloring half of the front of my hair a deep blue color, and a block section of lightened hair on the other side, with the black color for the rest of my hair. I drew a diagram of it, so I will have to find it and post it. I know it sounds drastic, and thats the point! I wanted to do purple, but a few other girls have that, and I dont like to have the same thing as others, so this is what I want done. Here is a few different styles of BLUE

This is the Blue I like!

I like this too, but I love her room in the background
As for the haircut, I saw a video of a band and the lead singer had part of her head shaved in the front sides, I think she had a mohawk, but I am not that drastic! I started to research a few styles of half head shaved hairstyles and I came to find out that many people have had that haircut, such as Carmen Electra, Cassie, La La and the style has been seen on the runway at fashion shows in NY.

I am gonna do it! I am gonna shave a small portion like these above, but I want to put a design in it somehow and have the blue and blonde and black. I cant wait to do it and of course I will post a blog and a video to go along with it.. It wont be for another few weeks, but I wanted to share it with yall. Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Love ya! and thanks for stopping by!

Mohawk Fever

My brother has been asking me to cut his hair for about a week or two ago, and I finally had some free time to do it today, so I sat him down in my Chair, (or the kitchen chair I should say hehehe), draped him and started clipping his hair up in a mohawk section.

I love that my family trusts me enough to practice on them lol. He was such a good sport, he didnt mind having like 7 clips in his hair while I shaved off the sides of his head using my Paul Mitchell clippers ( I used size 3). He did not want it faded, which I would have, but he is the "guest" not me. lol

I shaved off the sides and used my trimmers to clean up the edges around his hairline and neckline. I slightly tapered the back mohawk section so it didnt look so thick. He wanted me to trip up the back so that the hair didnt go past his collar (for work purposes) and also trim the front so it didnt hang past his eyes. So I did a one length trim in both places and that was it! pretty easy stuff.

how much hair I cut off!!!!
He loved it and so did I! He even liked that he could push the hair in either direction for his part, and I teased him saying he can whip his hair back and forth. lol "I whip my hair back and forth" lol

I also gave my son, Matthias a haircut, but couldnt find a camera to take a picture. I shouldve checked with his dad, because he wanted to have a mohawk with him. So, maybe next haircut, I will do a mohawk on Matti. :)

Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome day!

A big Blur

I painted this last year and decided to give it to Lucy, a girl in my class
Alot has happened this week, I am sorry I havent blogged in a while, but this week has been so busy with classes in both schools, preparing for tests, taking hubby to work, spending time with the kids, and with my mom and brother leaving this week, it has been a lil hectic and I am stressing out a lil bit. One of my classmates told me today something I usually tell other people, but we rarely ever take our own advice, but she told me "Take one thing at a time" and I swear, a lil lightbulb went off in my head. I took a deep breath and exhaled.

My first cut!!!

The last week,  in Rudy & Kelly Paul Mitchell School, we finally learned how to cut hair, and then we had spa week where we learned how to do facials, manicures, pedicures and waxing! It was so much fun to finally learn these things. Who knew there was so much to cosmotology??? Also, a couple weeks ago, one of my classmates, Terry gave me this awesome "face" award ( face means giving recognition to someone) for my Sweet Surrender Blog! She painted and decorated a record, which was the soundtrack to Grease (which is one of my favorite movies)!

This week, my husband and I are moving back into mom's since she is moving to Korea for a year :( We had a Bon Voyage party for my mom last week along with my brother's bowling birthday party. Here's a couple pictures.

Me, Nick ( a friend from Rudy & Kelly we ran into) and my mom Bon Voyage

Lets go bowling!!!

That was my past week! Once I am all settled in and things have calmed down, I will write more when I can. Things to look forward to:  Shopping for a makeup kit, my new haircut, how to make a zebra fabric bullitin board!
