The Painted Body

I have a body paint project in the works right now and I am so excited about it. I have not done a full body paint in a while, with the exception of Halloween, which was actually only half a body. I have been itching to get back to it for some time, the only problem is having a place and enough supplies to do it. While the technicalities of it are low, inspiration is at an all running high right now. I have been sketching up some really fun ideas that I want to incorporate. There is so much you can do with art, it amazes me. Here are some awesome body paint and face painting designs that have inspired me lately.

Things have been slow lately, but March is when things start to pick up in all areas of my craft. I need to order more supplies and get stocked up on body paint. I did spy a UV body paint kit at Spencers, but I am not sure of the quality so I will have to test it out. I am partial to Wolfe Paints myself, but I am anxious to try some new brands.
I hope this inspired you to try something out of the norm. I cant wait to share more with you as time goes on. Have a great day and “Surrender to Your Inner Artist”

Layla Glam Squad Grand Opening

Last night was the Grand Opening Party for Layla Glam Squad! We all got ready, got our models ready with some crazy avant garde hair and makeup and some body paint of course! We had a lot of amazing people help participate in our event with a caterer and a few local vendors specializing in hair, jewelry, accessories and candied apples! We got all dolled up and was ready to mix and mingle and introduce ourselves as the new salon in town!

I painted some fun and girly designs on myself and our models for the night and we all had a great time. I even took our first client before we opened up! So things are off to a great start! I am excited for the future and what is to come!

I am turning in for the night, but I wanted to share some of the images from last night!

Have a great night and see you soon in the next post or in the salon!

12 hour Photo Shoot Day!

Artists: SIREN and SOPE

I was invited to go to a photoshoot yesterday with a local body painter/graffiti artist named SOPE to assist in painting a few models for ICON Limosines that is doing a Calender Photo Shoot to showcase all their fabulous Limos! (see more at http://www.rideiconlimo.com/ )

The shoot started out at 8am and finished around 7:45pm, so it was ALL Day! Food and music was provided for a fun atmosphere in the graffiti filled workspace of the INKY DINX Studio, where the shoot was held. http://www.inkydinxprinting.com/

There is a PARTY BUS too!
There were about 10 models or more- after a while, I lost count. I was mainly there to do body painting- but I brought all my kits with me- JUST IN CASE- and I am glad that I did. I ended up helping out with hair and makeup- a TRIPLE THREAT! hahaha

There was alot of body painting with topless models for each month- I wont show too many pictures, but I did manage to take a few while working- I really didnt have time.

Thats all I will show for a sneak peek- will have to wait for a calender to see the rest!

This coming weekend, I will be doing body painting for the Lawrence Brothers Hairshow for an amazing stylist! More on that to come next week!

Thanks for stopping by as always!

Body Paint

!!!WARNING!!!
THERE IS PARTIAL NUDITY ON THIS POST IN THE FORM OF BODY PAINT ART.
THIS IS NOT TO OFFEND ANYONE AND THIS IS AN EXPRESSION OF ART

I once worked at a custom airbrush shop back in Colorado and I loved every second I was there. I did learn some really cool techniques and did a lil bit of graphic and fashion design. That is where I learned to airbrush and played with alot of paint and color.

I have been doing alot of graphic makeup and regular makeup applications, but there is alot of creativity and freedom in body painting. Yes, I said body painting. A month or two ago, I met someone who does body painting full time, and after talking to him and seeing his work, it inspired me that I wanted to do more body paint too. In Colorado, we had many clients come in to get their bodies airbrushed or painted for mainly football games, but also holidays.

A couple weeks ago, after a client seen some of my work, offered me to work with her for a show where I can paint 3 models. Of course I said yes! I am super excited since it is so much fun to do body painting. I love to see my art on people even if it is not permanent (YET, hahahaha)

I just ordered my body paint this morning and cannot wait for it to come in. In case anyone reading this is wondering where do you even get body paint from, well, keep reading because I will share with you!

There are many different brands you can use for body painting. What you want to look for is paint that is not going to rub off easily from sweat of rubbing. You can find body paint in any party or halloween store, but I find that to be a lil messy at times.

I have used Ben Nye Magicolor before and really found it to work best. There are many colors to choose from and has versatility to it. I can take a paint brush, or a sponge and apply it to the body or I can thin it with the Ben Nye Finisher Seal and use it in an airbrush, which is nice!

International Fun Shop
I really liked this website because of the variety of products, the price is not too bad and that they have served many celebrities, shows, movies and more. (You can check out more here for media)

I just ordered some body paint in white, black, red, yellow and blue. I can mix any color I may need from there. But  I am not getting paid to mention this site, I just wanted to share with you where I bought my makeup from so you can check it out! There are even tutorials on their website to help explain how to apply some of the makeup. You can sign up also to receive coupons or discounts through your email.

Once again, here is their website- check it out. http://www.fun-shop.com/

Thanks for stopping by and I hope this inspires you to do some body painting if you havent already!

“I think if human beings had genuine courage, they'd wear their costumes every day of the year, not just on Halloween. Wouldn't life be more interesting that way? And now that I think about it, why the heck don't they? Who made the rule that everybody has to dress like sheep 364 days of the year? Think of all the people you'd meet if they were in costume every day. People would be so much easier to talk to - like talking to dogs. ”
