I am happy to announce that I have found a salon to call home! Now that I finally got my license, I have been looking for a salon to fit me and my needs as well as my clients! It is a new salon that is opening up next month called Layla’s Glam Squad! It is here in the local Virginia Beach area, it is a multi cultural shop that will specialize in hair, color, extensions, weaves, nails, and we will also have a tanning bed in there as well. I cannot wait to show you pictures, because it is sooo cute and shabby chic! More will come on this! But I wanted to share in case any of my clients are reading!

Motivational Mondays- Get off your butt

Mondays can be a drag if you let it be. I woke up this morning in a great mood. Lately, I have been going to bed and listening to hypnosis sleep techniques on Youtube. I have been a little stressed out and anxious so I have been meditating and trying to clear my negative energy.

After I dropped off my hubby to work, I came home and got on the treadmill. I found an awesome work out video playlist that really kept me going. I want to share it with you.

I love this video because about every 30 seconds or so, a motivational quote displays and just when I want to stop, the next quote will push me. I need that lil nudge sometimes.

Here are some more quotes to get your butt into gear!

Pick Me Up

With the New Year creeping up fast, many of us feel more energized. We all set goals or resolutions, and usually were motivated to do different things like lose weight, go to the gym, eat better, watch our spending, or trying something new everyday.

Not everyone feels this way when the time comes to ring in another year. Sometimes, we feel out of place, lost or we feel nothing. Completely unmotivated. We need a PICK ME UP every once in a while to remember what it is that we are working towards.
As an artist, I sure do have my days where I just dont know what I am doing with myself. I dont want to do anything, and I try to talk myself out of doing things, or I make excuses as to why I dont want to start something.

We all need reminding of what it is we are working towards. Its easy to get down, or depressed when things arent what we want them to be. We see our peers, family and friends doing things and we feel that slight ting of jealousy although were happy for them, we get pulled into a funk.

I just wanted to remind you  to just chill. If youre feeling overwhelmed, lost or unmotivated, maybe you need a break. Take some time to just refocus, and find some inspiration. Take a small day trip somewhere, read a magazine you normally wouldnt, log in to PINTREST hahaha.or call a friend to talk it out- youll feel better getting it all out! When your ready to move to the next step, you ll know when that time is.

Dont ever compare yourself to what other people are doing in their lives. You will never move forward in your path if your focusing on what other people are doing. Make a dream board, where you cut out images of your goals, your hopes and dreams and post it where you will see if daily. If you goal is to one day own a salon, or a boutique, having images of your dream goal helps to give that reminder to keep going.

Even though your goals may seem too far away, everyday offers a new experience that you take with you on your journey. Focus on what you need to do and as each day passes, it turns into weeks, months and then all of a sudden, youre at that moment in your life when things are going your way.

We all have our days. If you ever need a pick me up, you can come here :) For a smile and an online hug!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed your stay!

This is for you Jinaki! I love you

Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful.

Surrender to Your Inner Artist

What Sweet Surrender Means

I get this question alot, "What is Sweet Surrender? What does it mean?"  This simple phrase means more to me than what it would seem. There are many reasons why I have used this for my blog, and for my business. It represents the past 10 years of my life, the good, the bad, the ugly and everything in between.

The past 4 years, I went through the most TOUGHEST part of my life. In this journey, I learned some major life lessons.  I was on a destructive path years ago and I lost who I was and made some real bad decisions that led me to some dark places. I wanted to give up on life, I wanted to just be sad and depressed. I blamed everyone but myself for my actions. What got me through those times was my faith and strength in myself that I could get through it. It took alot of work and alot of self discovery to open my eyes and see the wrong I was living.

It wasnt until I Surrendered my pride and my heart and my soul into fully understanding the path I was living on. For things to change in your life, you have to do things you have never done before.

That was the main reason for Sweet Surrender, the second reason for it, is that I have always been an artist since I was a child, but when I got married the first time and swept up in the life of the US Army, I put aside my passions for drawing and sewing.  When things went bad with my first marriage and I got out of the army, I wanted to get back into it. Other things happened after and soon was divorced. It wasnt until I single again and back on my feet and actually knew who I was in the world, I got back into my art and my craft. In a way, I feel as if I SURRENDERED to my inner artist to do what actually makes me happy. Now that I am at school, doing what I love and drawing and creating more works of art, I feel so much more complete and more confident in my life and the direction I am moving.

The last reason, but certainly not least, Sweet Surrender came to me through music. In Aerosmith's song for Armeggedeon, there is a lyric that says "I could stay awake in this SWEET SURRENDER...."
This struck a chord in me and reminds me of love and all the relationships I have been through on my journey to find my sould mate, my one true love and I know that may sound cheesy, but I really feel deep in my heart that I have found that person, my husband now and forever, Jermie.

So, I know this post got a lil on the DEEP side, but I wanted you to know a different side of me, a deeper understanding of it because this is just not a blog for me. It is so much more. So, I leave you with this video , the song that inspires me and holds the chapter I am closing. On my birthday, on September 1st, I am celebrating my 28th birthday and I am getting "SWEET SURRENDER" tattooed on my chest to symbolize what I have been through and the new chapter I am opening.

Thank you for reading and understanding and I hope you enjoyed this post.

My quote if the day is this video:

Sweet Surrender Art. Beauty. Fashion.
