New Pup adventures and VINE

Good afternoon my lovies! How is everyone doing? I just got back from taking the pup for a walk and sweating my butt off because the humidity is kickin high today, at least in my area. I live about 2 1/2 miles from the beach, so its not too bad, but it’s a bit muggy.

We picked up our new puppy, Mystique, last night and she was a lil out of it due to her surgery. She is such a lovie dovie dog, and she slept with us all night long. She was afraid of the stairs, so she has been avoiding them, but the kiddos trained her by bribing her with food.

I already have a funny story! So, you know I am a hairstylist and I have a few mannequin heads lying around, I threw one of the old ones on the floor and she went full frontal attack on it! It was actually quite hilarious. I managed to get a small video of it. I posted it on my new Vine Account, so if you wanna check it out, Find me I am user Sweet Surrender!

I have a busy week! I am in search of a salon that is close to where I live, (at least in the same city) and also that suits me and my style and of course, my clients. I have a few interviews set up through out the week and next and I will more than likely be going back to my shaved side and bright colored hair, because I simply cannot stay away!

I have tons of tattoo designs to draw up for clients and I have been a bit behind. Oh yea, before I forget, I did a couple more tattoos, just did some filler, which I am not done, and did my first cover up. I am still practicing, so please bare with me!

Friday Awake and Wired

Good morning yall! I just finished editing a video that I filmed earlier this week that I kept putting off, and actually I didn’t even have to edit it so yay! This week, like almost every week has flown by! I wanted to share some photos and a video of my past week and some of the things I have been working on. Arabella and I and had some good mother and daughter time last weekend at the Chesapeake Jubilee, she was my lil helper. While I facepainted, she put temporary tattoos on the kiddos that came by our table with Executive Tattoo. It was a good time although it had rained on and off on saturday and things were a lil muddy, but we didn’t let that put a damper on our weekend!

Of course, I have to share some of my artwork that I have been working on:

Here is A progress shot: the rose on the left is a the first rose I ever drew about 4 years ago while living in Colorado, and then the rose on the right is a rose I did a few months ago. I love seeing how I am improving over the years. It is true to get better you have to PRACTICE!

I have been working on this dragon design for what seems forever, I originally rendered it with a red and yellow dragon, but the client wanted to see more red in the dragon, so I redrew it and stayed up all night coloring it!

Then, I started on this Ohm design for my sister, Nique!

It’s Monday? No, wait it’s Tuesday

It’s 440am. I just got done with a tattoo illustration that took me all night to do. I wanted it to be just right. It’s a military tribute tattoo and I get a lil emotional drawing up those type of designs, especially since I have been overseas and have lost many dear friends. I hope to draw up my own tribute tattoo for the time I served, but just haven’t yet, because I want it to be just right. Here is a hint of what the tribute tattoo has in it. Hopefully, I will win this design at createmytattoo.com

Oh yea, here is the design I won over the weekend:

Last week was a busy week for me. I’ve been going hard on my new business, I finally manned up and got everything situated with my business license so now I can actually make a living from freelancing with makeup and body paint and all my artwork I have been doing. Whew, talk about paperwork and forms and fees. But it’s all worth it to me. I feel a sense of pride knowing that I work for myself and that I set the rules on how I want to work. I feel more motivated to work hard because it’s helping my family not some corporation. Ok, ok, enough of my tangent, it’s too late for that. Well, I guess it’s too early for that right?

My weekend was good, did a few gigs while hubby took care of sick kiddies who in turn got him sick with a stomach virus that I escaped unscathed! Mwahahahahaha (insert evil laugh) I’ve been doing a lot of shoots with Roger Mitchell’s Motiontography and I am loving it! It feels good to do something I love. Here are a few photos!

I am so behind on my videos too! But I got a package from a blogger in Australia from Valentines day, I sent her a package, but it just returned to me ( I filled out customs sheet wrong and I cant send perfume or body spray) so I have to resend it to her and she prolly thinks I totally blew her off. (I’m sorry if your reading this, I will get it together again) I want to show you guys what she got me.

I am sooo tired now that I have stopped drawing, so I will wrap this up and go to bed. I will keep yall posted as always what random adventures I have going on! Have a great morning, or afternoon, or evening-whatever time it is where you are reading this!

Find arms that will hold you at your weakest, eyes that will see you at your ugliest, and a heart that will love you at your worst. Then you have found true love.

Family Tree

I served in the Us Army with a friend of mine and he requested that I draw up this tattoo design for him and his family. He described what he wanted as a tree with his first name in the trunk, his last name in the roots and the name of his wife and two children in the branches.

It took me a few weeks to finish, a big piece like this I had to do it in stages because I am so busy. But I finally finished it, so I thought I would show it to my fellow Surrendered family. I hope you enjoy it! And if you want something custom drawn up for your next tatto design, I would love to be the artist for you! Send an email to cecilia@sweetsurrenderart.com

As always, thanks for stopping by and hope that you join this blog for more art coming your way!

Earthquakes are good luck?

Anyone who has heard, yes the northern eastcoast had a lil earthquake measuring at 5.9. I cant believe we had an earthquake! I have only been in a small one before while visiting my grandparents in California when I was real young. My hubby and I were at the bank when I felt it. I thought that maybe I was dizzy because I was real hungry, but then I see everything swaying and it was just wild. Something totally out of the ordinary, like when there was a tornado in Brooklyn a few years ago. Its been a long time since Virginia Beach has had a quake. And I guess we are also gonna be having a hurricane too impact our area soon. Crazy. We even had the power go out for no reason a few days ago....very strange.

My makeup today, just very natural with blue eyeline to make it pop and of course my usual colored eyebrows!
So, my husband said that after a quake, its considered lucky because we "survived" hahahaha so he bought a lottery scratchoff ticket for a $1 and won $5. Man, too bad we couldnt play for a bigger lottery. hahahaha

well, last night I finished the memorial angel tattoo with the shading and a hint of color, but I am not sure I like the sunset rays in it. I may just redo that part.

We went and saw Captain America today and we spent more on soda and popcorn than we did for our actual movie tickets. But we had a good time. I love the plot of the movie and the era it is filmed in, but as far as some of the action scenes, it couldve had a bit more BOOM-POW- for me and maybe a few more scenes with Captain America shirtless. :) hehehehe Amazing body

well, that was my day pretty much, with all the excitement and buzz of the earthquake, this girl is pooped! lol did I really just write pooped, well, you know what I mean, I am tired!

Quote of the Day:

Every moment that passes by is a moment that we will never get back. It should be a huge priority for everyone to cherish every moment that we possibly can. Make sure that you spend that time with your loved ones. Yes, it is important to work, but sometimes sacrifices must be made in order to just be there for the people that we love, and that know really need our support.

Don't waste time in the pursuit of your dreams. They may seem out of reach at the moment, but the farther along that you progress, the less the distance will be to the finish line. Never stop, or let anything stop you from doing what you love, with the people that you love and that truly love you. Cherish every single moment in your life, because you never know when it will end, and because time is something that when spent, can never be recouped.

This was in class on friday :)

Sunday is a day for me to relax, well kind of. I do sleep in, eat in my bed, stay in my jammies and watch movies and jam out to music, but I also try to squeeze in blogging and my art. In between eating pizza and watching E.T. (hehehe) I designed my new blog banner. I had thought I saved my work, but then the comp died, so lost my first design, but this one is way better than the original. So, maybe it was a good thing it died on me.

I dont need to post that pic, because you can see it above! I worked for hours on this bad boy and I really love it. It has all the things I am interested in and the stars and moon and some of my makeup photo shoots all incorporated in it.

I managed to do my makeup-for no particular reason other than to pick up hubby from work. I finally am able to put on false lashes by MYSELF! Which is no easy task! I usually have my hubby do it, or a friend.

I am working on a memorial piece that I mentioned a few posts ago, I just have the line work right now which I am in the process of inkin it right now. I got the design approved from my client after I drew it in pencil, so she loved it! I worked on it a lil bit while the kids were playing. We all had slurpees. They had a mixture of wild cherry and berry and I had Pina Colada.

My necklace and bracelet reflected the suns light onto my drawing which I thought was appropriate considering it is an angel memorial tattoo piece. This looks pretty plain, but once I am completely done, it will look really nice. I hope to be done with it hopefully tomorrow.
That was my day for today, it is nearing 2am, so I am gonna stop and go to bed. Tomorrow will be another art-filled day! Thanks for stopping by!

Quote of the Day:
Seeking to be fulfilled and happy is probably one of the most important goals that we should aim for throughout our lives. When we learn about ourselves earlier on in life we then realize who we are and what we are passionate about. Whether we choose to pursue these passions then falls on us.

Sure, there is a plan for our lives, but there is also a heavy responsibility on us to actually make the right choices and to take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead of us, that we feel in our hearts are actually for us. No one wants to go all the way through their life, and then realize at an old age that they were never really fulfilled. You have to live take risks, follow your heart, laugh, love, and most importantly be who you are, who you really are at your hearts level. By doing this fulfillment and happiness will come by default!
