Same ol’ me, just a new year!

New-Year-2014-HD-Wallpaper-for-Desktop-PC

Hello my loves! Happy New Year 2014! I am so happy to say goodbye to 2013 and move onto a new year! I took a break over Christmas and now that I am refreshed and recharged, I am back! I hope everyone had a good holiday with their family and friends, I know I did. I spent most of the “Christmas Break” at my mom’s house with the kiddos and the pup! Here’s a few pics.

I made out pretty good with some slippers, an electric blanket, and a Kuerig Coffee Maker, which I am stoked about….like I need more caffeine. hahaha The kids had fun and even Jacob got a nice BIG BONE, that he demolished in like a day. hahaha

New Years Eve was spent with good friends and my black eyed peas were eaten for good luck!

I have been painting, doodling and drawing and planning other special projects. Here is a bit of progress:

Above: See that lily drawing? I drew it! It is being published for this book! How exciting is that??? The publishers found it on my deviantart and contacted me a few months back, but it is finally going to print!

Below: a doodle or zentangle is what it is being called lately. I was having pretty bad artists block and cleared my mind but just letting the pen flow. Here is what I came up with.

Oh, I almost forgot, one of the tattoos I designed for a client earlier this year finally got it tattooed and she sent it to me to share! How awesome is that? I love when clients are excited and get a design they love. It is a rush!

I am at the library right now, and its getting late. I am off to go get something to eat, Thanks for stopping by and see ya soon in the next post!

Painting Sessions

Wednesday is here and pretty much gone seeing as it is already 7pm as I am sitting down to blog. I spent most of my day today with my brother Jeff and his girlfriend, looking for a new place to call home. Looking for a new place can be exhausting, but it will be nice when we find something and get settled. I cannot wait until I am able to purchase a house. A house to call my own. One day, I will.

I received an awesome package from my sis, Nique from Denver. We take turns sending little care packages whenever one of us are thinking of the other or when were going through a hard time. She is so thoughtful, I got this cute scarf above in the photo, along with relaxing bath salts, a white candle, 2 mini paintings, a journal, and a photo box. Of course, I had “You’ve Got Mail” playing in the background. hahaha (Don’t judge me)

I crammed in a painting session last night, I think I stayed up until 2am. The awesome thing about these projects I have been painting, is that I have to paint with my black light. Its really fun. I almost feel like I am in a bowling alley during midnight bowling. I felt like such the geeky artist last night painting, (not that I mind) I was reminded of She’s All That and Not Another Teen Movie…of Janie Briggs in the paint covered overalls/apron just imagine me….painting hahahaha That is soooo me right now! All I need is a hot guy to sweep me off my feet. hahaha

My workspace last night. I have brought my art space out to the living room and out of my cave, so that I can watch movies on my big tv.

This is what I have so far! Keep in mind, that this is just the first layer and details are yet to come! The first picture is with the lights on, and the second, with the black light. I am loving how it is coming together!

I finally arranged to pick up my screenprinting equipment today and I am picking up an inkjet printer tomorrow, and I cant wait!!!

As for our newest puppy, Jacob, he is just sooooo cute and has such a big personality. I just cant get enough of him!

He likes to nibble on my hair and ears. I cant wait to see how big he is gonna get, but for now, I am enjoying able to pick him up and hold him with one arm. hahahaha

I have more to get done, and I only stopped to take a break, which usually means stopping to work on something else. hahaha

I will leave with these thoughts tonight! Good night and see you in the next post!

Neptune Festival

A few days ago, my friend and I went to the Neptune Festival here at Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Neptune Festival is one of my favorite events of the year. There is so much going on for it such as Sand Castle building competitions, surfing competitions, rides and fun things for kids to do and wine tasting, and then the arts and crafts show which is the main reason I like to go.

I was mainly looking for one particular vendor that came last year and he made these beautiful statues and figurines made of plaster, so they were super cheap and easy to paint. I ended up buying a mermaid and painted it these awesome colors. I love this mermaid sooooo much, so I was looking forward to possibly buying more from him so I could paint them and maybe create an ETSY shop selling them. But he wasnt there. I was sooo sad. I did manage to get a card from him but of course I left it in my pants and it got washed in the washer. aaaaagggghhhhhh!!!!

But check out these other cool vendors that I love!

I want to buy these for my boutique salon!

I think this is a cow hat/scarf

This is a vanity made out of antique wood

I love this with Frakenstein on it!

This is such a beautful piece!

this mermaid is sooo pretty!

We walked up and down the boardwalk and no luck. I was searching also for just a plain burger and fries and I finally found a food vendor that had it. hahahaha I am such a picky eater sometimes.

There was this really cool tent that had all these hats and scarves and sweaters made of I wanna say wool or something but they were handmade and sooooo adorable. I really wanted this tiger one! They were so warm and thick and soft. Many other people had bought them because it was a chilly day on Sunday, me and Jackie even had our scarves on.

I did end up buying this really awesome earring and yes I only bought one. The pair was $29.99 but I only had a lil cash just so I wouldnt spend everything, so I bought one for $14.99. It is 100% Sterling Silver and I dont know what it is about this piece and the face and how it is broken, but I fell in love with it and now it never leaves my ear, except to sleep and shower hahahaha

What was your favorite thing you saw? I think my favorite is the tiger scarf lol its just too cute!

Thanks for stopping by my lovies!!!

Never be too proud of who you are and what position you hold because after a game of chess the kings and pawns are tossed into the same box.

Custom Sneaks

My sister came from Denver to spend some time with me, and while shopping at TJ Maxx, we found some black and white converse sneakers and we got the grande idea to paint our own designs for these shoes just for US. By no means am I gonna try to break into the custom sneaker biz, I will leave that to my friend Elom, (check out his blog here ).

My sister and I

But we wanted something to represent us and our sisterhood :) Nique is an artist as well, she loves to paint with bright colors and is really into abstract art. She wanted a design with a sun and an Ohm symbol, so here is what I came up with, check it out:

me working on some of the details

She wanted me to do whatever I wanted on her other shoe, so of course, I did my signature stars, moon and universe with my Sweet Surrender name

For the colors, I used my airbrush gun, then went back through with my paintbrush to add some contour and depth, then went back through with my marker to get some of the fine lines.

Nique painted something for my brother and I painted something for her to take back to Denver.

She painted Sublime because my brother sang one of their songs on a video I posted

Here is what I painted, just something abstract with teaks, blues a lil bit of pinkand some swirlies.

That was part of my weekend! I hope you enjoyed it and draw inspiration from it.

Painting Sea Shells

For school, we had to come up with a 3D color wheel in a creative way. Suggestions were to make cupcakes in different colors, or colored items, one girl even made peanutt butter balls (no clue how those would taste! haha) So, I decided to use a canvas I had sitting around and some seashells and also use my new pallate I got from Jerry's ArtORama. Here is what I came up with:

Sea Shell/ beach inspired Color wheel complete with netting!

breakin in my new pallette. I love the thumb grib! So much easier to paint with easy access to my paint!

The only thing bad about painting is accidentally drinking your dirty paint water and mistaking it for your tea. lol! Luckily I caught myself, but I should start using glass containers so I can actually see what I am holding! lol

dirty paint water......yuck!
Here is my last two candles burning, I need to get more. I cant paint without my candle "ambiance" lol

I love these candle holders, the glow is so pretty from the cracked glass effect
I was able to use my glue gun again that I found in a box after searching for a week for it. Then, while I had my glue gun out, I went ahead and made the hair accessories for my Mermaid inspired photoshoot I have this week. I was gonna leave them white, but then decided to paint them:

Seashell Hair Clips

Painted greenish/blue ocean colors, still wet!
well it is turning midnight and I need to get to bed, just had to get this post in! I hope you enjoyed and are inspired!

Loving this new artist: Natalia Kills
