Calling all Bloggies

If you are a regular reader, you know how I kept complaining that I lost my flip camera, well, either I was too scatter-brained to find it, or it was stolen from me. Well, I have been out of commission on my videos for quite some time. UNTIL NOW, that is.....enter evil laugh MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

My Dad got me the Sony Bloggie for my birthday last week and I was so excited to open it up. This thing is cool. There are a few different versions of the Bloggie, but I got the Sony Bloggie Duo in white:

I wanted a camera that was of course HD, and had a dual screen (meaning a screen in the front and the back) I can take videos and then also see myself when I am filming or taking a picture. It is also a camera!

I can charge it through a usb port in the computer, there is also a HDMI port so I can hook it up to my TV if I wanna watch my videos or view pictures.

I can attach my mini tripod to it as well, but I think the best feature is that I can take pictures while I am filming and it does not interfere with the video at all! There is also a light on it so you can film in dark light as well (but it is REALLY BRIGHT!) There is no flash for when you take pictures (bummer!) but honestly taking pictures in dark light with the flash is not good of quality as pics taken in daylight. Same goes with filming with the light on in dark places (ie, clubs or restaurants).

The quality during the day is awesome! In fact this picture was taken off the bloggie: enter FISH FACE

I have only had it for about a week, but I have been LOVING it so far. It also comes with software, but I have yet to use it to edit anything. I have a few videos getting ready to edit and load onto my youtube again, just internet connection has not been allowing me to load!!! Oh sometimes technology doesnt work the way you want it too.

So here is my review on this product: It is awesome! But if you want the specs on it to see for yourself, check the link Here for SONY BLOGGIE INFO.

As always, thanks for stopping by! I am off to help the kids make helicopters out of playdoh to destroy barbie shoplifters with Bella and Matti! LOL

Fall into these Boots!

This style of boot is starting to POP up into stores, and becoming a fast trend on the streets, well, at least here in my small corner of the woods in Virginia Beach. So far I have seen them in only black, brown and gray, you know the pretty nuetral, earth tone colors. I was going though my favorite designer, Betsey Johnson and stumbled across these babies!

These are just too cute to pass up! Just my style too. I think my favorite ones are the black and pink ones, they go more with my wardrobe. Here is the link to Betsey Johnson LLOLA Boots

I thought I would share this with my fellow fashionista's out there while I am trying to wake up and waiting for this coffee to kick in.

Dont forget to subscribe for more updates!

I plan on doing a giveaway very soon so keep your eyes peeled!

I have been forgeting to do my quotes of the day, so let me get back on track with that:

The Beauty Parlor

One of my fellow classmates, Dennis asked me to be a hair model for an interview at his dream salon to work at this past week for a technical interview. For hair stylists, when we are trying to get a job in a salon, we have to of course prove our savvy skills, so I jumped at the chance to help my friend out and be his model. I needed a hair cut and a new color too, so PERFECT TIMING!

His dream salon to work at is called the Beauty Palor owned and operated by Quincy Brown, here is his Facebook Link.  From the moment I walked into the salon, I felt at peace and right at home. I am very into Interior Design and fashion, and am a very visual person too.

We were set up in the other room towards the back and got to work (well, Dennis got to work on my hair!) He recolored my red using INKWORKS since it was fading and then did a very beautiful assymetrical cut with layers.

I am in LOVE with this SILVER SOFA!

Dennis and I waiting for my hair to process
He did such an amazing job on my hair and can really work that blow dryer! Here is the finished result that I LOVE!!!!

I am proud to say that Dennis got the job working at this amazing salon. Please check out their facebook page! They are located in downtown Norfolk in the "Art District" not too far from the Norfolk Scope and for those tattoo enthusiasts (like myself) Fusion Ink is a stone's throw away from The Beauty Parlor!

Stop by the salon, it is a cute, very chic, relaxing place to get your hair done! I know I will be going there for my haircut! I believe they offer massages as well. Check their facebook for a full list of services!

As always, my Sweet Surrender readers, thank you for stopping by and stay tuned for more updates from me!

Pin Up Party

I spent my Labor Day getting ready for my birthday party that I made into a theme party. I found a dress on sale for $10 at Sears and then did my makeup and hair into a pinup style. But of course, I was in such a rush to get ready I forgot to take decent pics of it before I left. So, all I have are dark pics from inside :( so FAIL!
I didnt get a chance to show my makeup from the party, but here is my makeup from earlier in the day when we went shopping for my dress.

My makeup was similar to this except I used more pink and purple and did an exaggerated cat eye-the classic pinup eye!

I didnt think too many people would come because it was on a Monday and school started today for friends with lil ones, but I didnt want to have a party on a friday or saturday because I love spending time with my children, and plus, I wanted all the TOURISTS to go home already (no offense to non-locals) hahaha. But I just wanted to hang out and dance a lil. and I did.

Here are a few pics I managed to snap off a video camera.

Here is my dress I used for the Pin Up Party!

Jackie and I- her outfit was so frickin cute!  We didnt get any good pics of our outfits-it was too dark!

Jermie and I- you cant see my updo- but there are pin curls and a victory roll and of course flower accessories

My cousin Jessica and I with my hubby's hand....weird
The night was nice and wasnt too crowded. I just hung out with a few friends and had a good time.

With everything going on the past week, it felt like my birthday was a WEEK long celebration with the concert and my tattoo and then the party, I feel like I brought in my 28th year in style! I wonder how next year will be. This year is starting out great! It seems it can only get better from here. Good things are to come!

Thanks for sharing my birthday with me through my blog! I appreciate all my readers and hope you subscribe to stay updated on Sweet Surrender Art!

Blue Horseshoe Tattoo

Almost every week, I drive by Blue Horseshoe Tattoo in Virginia Beach so one rainy day I stopped by there to see if I could get a price quote on a tattoo I have been wanting to get for a while now, which is Sweet Surrender below my collarbone with the colors of the galaxy shaded around it. I ended up talking to the head artist, a tattooist by the name of Gentleman Jim.

What I liked most about talking to him was that he was real down to earth and wasnt pushy or cocky like some artists are. I didnt feel pressured or intimidated at all. He offered for me to look at everyones portfolio's before deciding who I wanted to do my piece and after browsing his book, I made my mind up. I checked out his website as well, which you can see Here.

I booked my appointment a month in advance and August flew by and so before I know it, it was my birthday. I first had my appointment set up for the morning, until I had to reschedule it for the evening since I attended the Miss Uproar Beauty event with my school. Gentleman Jim was so nice and was cool with me coming in late because he understood what an opportunity it was for me to go to the Uproar Festival.

I got there at 9pm, but we didnt really start until 945pm. He put the stencil on me, I filled out all the paperwork while my stencil dried. Then I sat in the chair and he got to work. The outlining wasnt too bad and I was surprised at how well I sat through it. My last tattoos (nautical stars on my hips were painful!) The most painful spot was on the center of my chest where my bone is. click here to see those tattoos!

I just closed my eyes and zoned out and remembering why I was getting this tattoo. If you would like to know why see my post on what Sweet Surrender means to me click  here

After the outlining, he used a numbing spray, which I have never tried before and I thought it was cool that he wanted to use it on my tattoo. Once he applied it to my skin and started tattooing, I didnt feel a thing! It was strange but nice at the same time. I was able to talk to my artist and have a meaningful conversation about life and tattooes.

we were done with the lettering at around 1145 and we were both too tired to keep going, so we decided that I would come back in 2 weeks after I am healed to finish the shading!

So, here is what I have so far! Enjoy!

Fresh Ink right after leaving the shop

healing nicely with colors shining :)

Close up of lettering. Colors look a lil deep but its purple, pink, lavender and white with of course black outlining.
It was an amazing way to wrap up my birthday. I went to bed with a big smile on my face because I love that i finally got this! I will keep you updated when I get the rest tattooed! Please subscribe for more fun updates!

Behind the Scenes

Here are a few photos from behind the scenes at the Miss Uproar Beauty event  and Uproar Festival

It was so amazing that I was able to be apart of this, especially since it was my birthday. I dont wanna be a "debbie downer" lol about my birthdays but I have had a few birthdays that werent the best. I feel like I can finally celebrate not only my birthday but my life and happiness. I create my own happiness!

My hubby was able to come along too for the ride and he loved it. We all got in for free and got Pit passes and also scored After party passes as well. Only a few people stayed that late to enjoy the party.

I stayed to watch Seether because I knew my mom would be mad if I didnt stay for their performance. lol Jermie and I caught a few guitar picks that they threw out to the crowd to add to our collection of other concert goodies we have started to collect! I will have to give my mom one of the guitar picks just for her!

I didnt stay for the afterparty because I had an appointment with Gentleman Jim from Blue Horseshoe Tattoo to start my collar bone tattoo chest piece!  Stay tuned for the next post on my tattoo!

Here is a video I edited real quick just a glimpse of some of the excitement that went on behind the scenes in the Backstage area. At the end of the video, there is a surprise serenading for my birthday.
I tried to load to youtube, but it wont :( having technical difficulties) So, hopefully I can just load them to here!

I will have to find another way to upload this video, my server is actin up as usual. I will keep you updated on it.

Thanks for stopping by! Please subscribe for updates on more from Sweet Surrender!

UPROAR Festival

It has been like a week since I have posted- I am sorry all my readers. I have been so busy! I have lots to share!!!! I already gave you an update on the Super Service Day at Rudy and Kelly Paul Mitchell Partner School, but if you missed it, click here.

Wednesday, I found out that I was picked along with 7 other classmates to participate in Miss Uproar Beauty Pageant for the Uproar Festival to do hair and makeup on 8 models that were picked as well. It was such an honor to be picked to do a fun event. I had no idea that I would have so much fun. Rockstar Energy Drinks sponsored the event. At first, I wasnt even going to go to school for my birthday because that is when the concert would be. But I could not pass this opportunity up! What is funny that my husband and I were going to go to this concert anyways. Many bands that we like to listen to were gonna be there such as Avenge Sevenfold, Seether, Three Days Grace, The Art of Dying, Bullet for my Valentine and many more.

I was so excited that I was able to go even though I would be working.  Jermie (my hubby) took the day off for my birthday, so when we got to the Amphitheater on Thursday afternoon, we were able to get my husband in on the action as the "equipment Manager" hahahaha we made him carry all our makeup and hair kits. LOL! We got backstage passes!

Here we are with kits and makeup in tow walking up to the entrance!
They had everything set up for us backstage by all the tour buses. There was a tent, a cooler full of Rockstar energy drinks, two tables, 8 chairs, 5 mirrors and 2 fans that didnt really do anything! We all set up and got to work with half of us doing hair and the other half starting on makeup. It was pretty cool that we didnt plan it that way and we all just worked really good with each other!

We even had Alicia our own photographer there to snap away pictures!

My model, Leslie and I laughin away while I did her makeup. We just couldnt stop laughing!

Everybody hard at work despite the heat of being outside with no wind! We got though it though!
I had two models, Leslie and Sarah and then I painted a snake on Sara (there were 3 Sara's! )
Yours truly with Leslie my first model
My second Model Sara where we did a very pretty rainbow eyeshadow and posing with this yummy Rockstar drink which I usually dont drink energy drinks, but this one was pretty good, I drank like 4 of them!
Here is Sarah who asked that I draw a snake around her neck. I used liquid eyeliner and green and black eyeshadow!
After we finished the hair and makeup, we had an hour to kill while the models walked around showcasing their beauty.  We hung out and saw a few bands play.

We met back with the models and we were able to go onstage while The Art of Dying hosted the Miss Uproar Pageant. It was a lil weird being on stage in from of hundreds of people, but it was not a bad way to celebrate my BIRTHDAY!

Myself and my learning leader Samantha Vain backstage!
The Paul Mitchell Crew: From left to right: Jackie, Myself, Geneva, Devanne, Kim, Crystal, Ms. Debbie, Terry, Brant and Ms. Samantha

I couldnt resist a snapshot of us on stage! hehehehe
Well, I am gonna edit the backstage videos and post that when I am done! I will post more behind the scenes footage soon! I figured this post is large enough!
