Its all a hustle

I get so frustrated sometimes about college. I have been going to school for a while now, so long in fact I should already have a bachelors. But of course, life isnt perfect, I have had struggles and issues and I have had to stop going to school many times, and have switched majors a couple times from fashion design, to fashion merchandising to graphic design.  I have attended 3 colleges: westwood online, the art institute of colorado, now a community college...oh and cosmetology school.

It seems like I am all over the place, but truth is, I am so interested in anything art related.  I wish I didnt switch schools, but I did what I had to. I dont want to complain, but I just want to vent. I am getting ready to sign up for summer semester.....I wish I could take a break but I will not get my GI Bill money, so in order for me to get that, I have to take at least 4 credits. I want to take an art class...since all I have been doing is math, english and history for the past 2 semester and I am getting a lil bored. hahahaha

I am going to take 2 classes this summer, which is better than 4 I guess, I just want to take maybe only one class, but they dont really have any 4 credit classes....only 3. I am taking intro to drawing, AGAIN, which I have taken twice already at two other schools, but since they are both private schools, they dont transfer to a public college. I am throwing the BS card on that.

People wonder how I got so good at drawing? Its because I had to retake the same classes over and over again. I feel like college is such a hustle sometimes. Like society tells you "you need to go to college" and you end up taking classes you dont need but you do anyways, and you go to transfer to another college, they say you can transfer some of your classes, and then they pull the rug from under you and say....."hahahahahaha just kidding" "you have to retake it, our college doesnt accept it".

Another hustle is buying school books, you spend like $400 on books and some instructors dont even use them.....uggghhhhh. lol

sorry I am ranting,, just had to get it out. On the positive side, I am staying busy, and I am working towards my degree..one day all this hard work will pay off. I might not see that yet, but I am taking a step further everyday.

My advice for this blog is...when youre frustrated...vent it out for 5 minutes, then let it go...give it to the universe...the universe will answer back, it all comes back in a good way, you just might not see it right away.

Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome day!

My next DIY Project

As I was surfing youtube videos, which is what I like to do on my sundays, I came across this video on youtube:

And it inspired me to want to create my own vanity desk.  I did research online and a good vanity could be anywhere from $200 to $1000 depending on how luxurious you would want it to be.  And I dont know about you, but I do not have that type of dough right now. It would be nice to have my own room for just makeup and beauty supplies, and even my art supplies. I came across another youtube video, that features vanity furniture from IKEA

That video is a lil long, but if you love makeup, you will love this video.

So, to get back to my point, these videos inspired me for my next project.  From my world market haul video, I picked up a very nice white desk, which I love!!! I use it for everything! Applying makeup, painting, doing homework, drawing and just geekin out.  I want to make it more like a vanity with the lights and everything...especially since I am obssessed with good lighting....and with a blue room, its a lil hard sometimes.   All I really need is some lights and a mirror...since I already have the desk:

Here is a light strip on ebay that I found:

ebay listing for light above
There are 8 lights (sold separately) The price is at $4.99 with only $9 shipping. This listing doesnt last long, but there are hundreds of lights to choose from.

I plan on getting 3 of them: One for above a mirror, and two for the sides, enough to give me enough light!

I want to get a framed mirror from Garden Ridge in Chesapeake sometime within the next month or two. I also want to get a pink hair stylist chair to really set off the mood of my makeup "studio". Here is a cool one I found:

You can find this and other salon chair furniture at: This link

So, when I get everything, I will update you along with a video as well. Just wanted to share this with you and maybe you will get inspired too!

Nicki Minaj Style Alert

I love this haircut. Graduated cut in the back, and long in the front.
Since Nicki Minaj went mainstream, I have always liked her music and her style, its something different, out of the ordinary. Like Lady Gaga, and Katie Perry and other artists, she is not afraid of color and style, no matter how crazy it may seem.

she can pull off any look...I love the hair color

After I went to the concert last week, and saw her perform, I became more interested in her style.

Cassie ( with the haircut I am getting), Nikki Minaj and Amber Rose
I mentioned in one of my blogs about the bright colored boots that she was wearing along with her backup dancers. Doc Martins have been around for years, but it is a style that comes and goes. I did a lil research and found some really cool, bright and colorful boots.

I like these with the guitars on the back

special addition Hello Kitty Doc Martins

these are the cheapest I found at a website in Korea
Here is the link for above

I plan on ordering a pair soon, I am thinking about getting the hot pink ones and the black ones, so I can wear the black ones at school.

Thats my style alert for today! Thanks for stopping by!

LIL Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross Concert

This past wednesday, Jermie and I went to the "I AM STILL MUSIC " Tour with Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Travis Barker and Nicki Minaj in Hampton, VA.  I was so excited to go! At school that day, it was Pajama Party for Funraising. We got to dress up in our jammies, or comfy clothes, bring pillows and blankets and we got to watch movies all afternoon for $20....and we got our hours for it too! The learning leaders sold raffle tickets for some cute lil prizes. I had 6 tickets, and I won 5 times (there was like over 25 prizes). I had a few people braid and curl my hair for the concert.

It took me forever to pick out an outfit since none of my clothes fit, so this is what I picked:

Pink & black plaid shirt: Rue 21 $12
Jeans: Forever21 $9.99
Black boots: Rue 21 $5.00
Feather earrings: Hot Topic $12
Rhinestone bracelet: Rainbow $3

Jermie and I had a blast! We got there and we bought a tshirt from some guys selling them in the parking lot, smuggling them under their shirts like they were drugs! Here is a picture of it, with front and back:

We missed Travis Barker, but we got there in time to see Rick Ross, then weezy came out and then Nicki too. Here is a video clip I found of a fan getting a lapdance from Nicki herself....along with her surgically inhanced bootay.....

The show was amazing, we had seats in the Mezzanine, on the left side of the stage, so we had perfect seats in my opinion. I have to say my favorite thing about it, was the hot Doc Martin boots Nicki and her backup dancers were wearing! I gotta say, I am gonna have to get me a pair. They are just too cute!

well, I just wanted to share how our night was! Thanks for stopping by!

New Haircut Idea

For FUNraising at my school, (which I cant seem to stop talking about) On April 10th, our learning leaders will be available to do hair services on us, future professionals. I want Christina to color my hair. She is a real laid back learning leader, and whenever we have a question, she always helps!

Here is Christina pointing at my hair, which "Pink" the girl behind me got her ring stuck in my hair! lol
I made my appointment with her to do my color service, which I am planning on coloring half of the front of my hair a deep blue color, and a block section of lightened hair on the other side, with the black color for the rest of my hair. I drew a diagram of it, so I will have to find it and post it. I know it sounds drastic, and thats the point! I wanted to do purple, but a few other girls have that, and I dont like to have the same thing as others, so this is what I want done. Here is a few different styles of BLUE

This is the Blue I like!

I like this too, but I love her room in the background
As for the haircut, I saw a video of a band and the lead singer had part of her head shaved in the front sides, I think she had a mohawk, but I am not that drastic! I started to research a few styles of half head shaved hairstyles and I came to find out that many people have had that haircut, such as Carmen Electra, Cassie, La La and the style has been seen on the runway at fashion shows in NY.

I am gonna do it! I am gonna shave a small portion like these above, but I want to put a design in it somehow and have the blue and blonde and black. I cant wait to do it and of course I will post a blog and a video to go along with it.. It wont be for another few weeks, but I wanted to share it with yall. Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Love ya! and thanks for stopping by!

Antique shops are our new addiction!!!

My makeup for this day, I used soft colors: pink, teal, purple and white

A week or two ago, Jermie and I went to this Antique Mall that we have been eyeballin for months now. During Christmas, we got hooked on that show, "American Pickers" and so we got to this big warehouse of antiques and stayed in there for nearly 2 hours browsing every nook and cranny for stuff.

I found a beautiful antique mystic topaz ring I wanted for my actual wedding ring ( all we have are wedding bands) and found a few antique sewing mannequins that I wanted but they werent selling :(

I also found this cute pink wicker table. I love wicker furniture. In my room, you can see in my last video, I have a white wicker vanity that belonged to my grandmother that passed away in 2009, and she gave it to me years ago. So, I am keeping it to one day give to my daughter. My grandmother used to take me to this furniture store that sold alot of wicker furnishings in Lakeland Florida. I dont even remember the name of the store, we just called it the wicka store. lol, but this piece below reminded me of her

There were so many things that we found, that reminded us of our parents, our grandparents and even great grandparents, we found stuff from our childhoods that we used to play with and it was like taking a trip down memory lane.

I found a BIG section on Mermaids, and I was thrilled! I couldnt pick what I wanted, because if I could, I would have bought everything!!!

I bought this sign which is now nailed into my wall above my tv! I love it
Jermie geeked out on signs and I found a few too that were funny!

This one was shocking! Norfolk, VA
There was so much more that we saw, and I could write pages and pages on. But this was just a highlight and a quick blog I wanted to post.

but I wanted to post this, in case anyone wanted to know what type of makeup I used. I am driving in my car going home from school and was just in such a good mood I wanted to share my energy! Watch the end and I share a lil inspiration tip for the day!

Mohawk Fever

My brother has been asking me to cut his hair for about a week or two ago, and I finally had some free time to do it today, so I sat him down in my Chair, (or the kitchen chair I should say hehehe), draped him and started clipping his hair up in a mohawk section.

I love that my family trusts me enough to practice on them lol. He was such a good sport, he didnt mind having like 7 clips in his hair while I shaved off the sides of his head using my Paul Mitchell clippers ( I used size 3). He did not want it faded, which I would have, but he is the "guest" not me. lol

I shaved off the sides and used my trimmers to clean up the edges around his hairline and neckline. I slightly tapered the back mohawk section so it didnt look so thick. He wanted me to trip up the back so that the hair didnt go past his collar (for work purposes) and also trim the front so it didnt hang past his eyes. So I did a one length trim in both places and that was it! pretty easy stuff.

how much hair I cut off!!!!
He loved it and so did I! He even liked that he could push the hair in either direction for his part, and I teased him saying he can whip his hair back and forth. lol "I whip my hair back and forth" lol

I also gave my son, Matthias a haircut, but couldnt find a camera to take a picture. I shouldve checked with his dad, because he wanted to have a mohawk with him. So, maybe next haircut, I will do a mohawk on Matti. :)

Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome day!

Busy Busy week

This week was amazing! I had two guests in my chair which I had already posted about in my last post, and yesterday was a busy saturday! We had our Princess For a Day event for FUNraising at Rudy & Kelly Paul Mitchell School where girls under 14 can come and be treated like a princess, they can wear a princess costume, get their hair done in a pretty updo, a lil makeup and get their nails painted and they even get their own princess tiara!!! So, of course Arabella wanted to go and she was excited about it all week!

her hair is so long!

They played princess movies all day and she was so good, at first she was shy and clung to my arm, but I knew once she warmed up to everyone, that she would show her real personality.

I had my second guest yesterday while Arabella was getting all dolled up, and my guest was really laid back and outgoing, and she wanted her hair colored and cut. She had really curly hair and it was my first haircut on a female. I wasnt nervous at all, so I think maybe I was meant to do this! I did everything I was taught to do and was reall friendly and made sure she had a great experience since it was her first time coming into the school. Here is a picture of her haircut

She was really happy with her cut and color and when she left, she tipped me $20! I couldnt believe that! I told one of our learning leaders and she said, "See, that's what happens when you are professional". It totally made my day! I went into the New Core classroom and shared my news with the newest future professionals that if they do everything they are taught with a positive attitude, they can go far!

After that, Bella was all done and she stayed with me until the end of the day and by that time, she was acting herself, in fact she was rolling on the ground, growling at people in a playful way! lol she is so funny!

she was changed out of her dress and her updo was falling out, when I tried to fix it, she said, "no!!!! I like it when it falls out!" lol

That was my day yesterday! Just wanted to share it with my bloggers!

First Guest

Today was an awesome, beyond awesome day! Even though it was a lil rainy this morning, it did not put a damper on my day. We had a guest speaker this morning, Taryn Aiken, a color specialist from the Advanced Academy. She talked about her life mainly and her background, how she was a recovering alcoholic and addict and how Paul Mitchell School and her career saved her life. She had the whole room laughing and crying and she was an inspiration to all. Her stories touched the hearts of not just me, but everyone in the room. It just goes to show, that no matter what we go through in life, we can pick ourselves up and again and move on. We have the support in each other. I could go on forever about her story and my story, but I just wanted to share a small piece of the experience of this morning. Some of us encouraged her to start a youtube channel, so maybe she will.

Another exciting thing about today was that I had the first guest in  my chair today! I really wasnt nervous especially after my inspirational morning, so I greeted my guest and followed the steps I was taught. I had a guy come in for a male haircut. I shampooed and conditioned and began my cut with the help of my learning leader and before I knew it, I was done! I am so glad I didnt have a bad experience for my first cut! I didnt get any pictures (my camera was dead). I even got my first tip of $5. Not sure if I want to frame it...lol cheesy huh?

well, just wanted to share parts of my day! Thanks for stopping by!
