Easter Weekend

The kids and I started our Easter celebration on Saturday by going to MT Trashmore for a bit to run around and stretch our winter legs. The sun was out, it was a lil breezy but nothing that a sweatshirt couldn't fix. We ran up and down the mountain and watched all the kites soar higher and higher into the sky until they were small specs in the distance. It was really relaxing.

We stopped by 7-11 and got good ol' slurpees! I really wanted the Banana flavor, but it wasnt quite ready, so we all settled for Peach Mango Fanta mixed with a bit of Wild Cherry Fanta. It was a delish lil combo even though I stopped drinking them because they just taste weird or toooooo sweet. It wasnt too bad this time around.

Arabella took this photo of me. I love how blue the sky looks. Not a cloud in the sky!

We made our way to HUNT CLUB Farm, which is a local spot near where we live that does holiday events. They are really famous for their Halloween activities! They had easter egg hunts, sac races, bounce houses and inflatible play area, a playground, petting zoos, a live dj and some local food. Oh, and let me not forget the hayride that takes us around the whole property!

Hubby was at work, so we had to go without him, but when he got off work, we made some brownies and colored a dozen easter eggs.  I must say its been an eventful day. I didnt get to go to Home depot to get the rest of the plywood I need to finish my project, but I think I will go today. I saw that they are open!

Here is what I have so far on the first panel..sneak peek!

How did you spend your Easter Weekend? I would love to hear your story! :) Happy Easter and I hope you and your family are blessed!

Sunset Inspired Hair

One of my clients stopped by last night for me to do her hair anyway I wanted to do.  I love when I get a chance to do wild, funky hair! Its just my absolute favorite. I usually dont plan out how I am going to a color placement until its time to part the hair. Once I have the vision in my head, I go to work taking care to not mix the wrong colors together.

I have been inspired by the sunset lately and all the colors the sky turns while the sun is drifting away and the moon starts to peek out in the night sky.

Here are a few pictures of when I was blow drying and then curling her hair. She loved it, as well as everyone else who was watching me do her hair! Hope you like it and tell me what you think!
I used Joico Colors available at Cosmo Prof
I dont why I look so serious...I guess I am concentrating!
I love the way all the colors look when curling hair!
Her hair kinda resembled tropical flavored skittles....I almost wanted to eat her hair. hahahaha

I love this so much, I am tempted to do this to my hair, but then my client wouldnt be the only one rockin this style. And I dont copy any style even if it is one I created for someone else. hahaha

I wanted to share with my viewers of course all the types of art I am involved with! Hope you enjoy this latest piece of art. Hope to see you soon!

Art Supplies from Home Depot

I love Home Depot. I am not a "handy" person or can build anything or fix anything. I mean I have common sense....I can hang pictures on my wall, or hmmmmm, um er.....I think thats all I can do. hahaha I would actually love to be able to build things around the house. I have always wanted to help out in building a house or make furniture. The closest thing I got to making was helping my grandpa build a lil stand to sell sodas and handmade yarn bracelets. hahahaha Or making a wooden floor for a tent in Iraq. That sums up my Handy-ness.

I love going to Home Depot for inspiration and ideas. I love the garden section although I dont really enjoy working a garden. haha I made a trip recently to pick up supplies for an art project I have been working on for a lil bit. Here is a lil peek into my shopping cart:

Spray Paint, foam brushes, Latex primer, foam rollers and a paint pan. You can see my rough sketch of what I am working on. I also got some plywood, when I took this picture, I was having the plywood cut.

The weather was nice enough and I was able to prime the wood with 2 coats of primer. I outlined my artwork and gonna start painting tonight. I have some long hours ahead of me.

Just wanted to share one of the many projects I am working on.  I will take pictures when it is all done and of course share them!

Back from Korea

My mom just got back last week from a year tour in Korea (she is a Chief in the US Navy), so that is one reason I havent been online lately so I can spend time with her! It is so good to have mom back home. Here are a few pictures of my mother, my brother and myself. We have more pictures, but have to get them from her camera hahaha. We grilled out a few burgers and enjoyed the nice spring weather that we have been lucky to have lately.

I also took a few pics of the blooming flowers in the backyard. Its nice to see the grass turning greener and the trees and flowers with their buds blooming. *Cheesy moment* haha

My mom treated herself to a new present, what better to buy than a new car. She has always loved sportscars so she got this baby!

Man, makes me wanna go back to the military and go overseas so I can treat myself. hahaha

Im off to work on a project for a hair show, which I will write about in the next post!

See you soon!

Kandee Johnson Designer Bag

Kandee Johnson is one youtube guru that I watch and read religiously. Not that I am a crazy stalker, but she is someone I look up to as a mentor/sister/friend even though I have never met her. She has inspired me to attend cosmetology school, become a makeup artist, start a blog and even do youtube videos. She is just one of the kindest, funniest, nice people I have ever come across.

You can check out her blogs at www.kandeej.com and www.kandeeland.com.

She got the opportunity to design her very own handbag, or more like a messenger bag through Imoshion. I am so excited, not only because she designed it, but this is exactly my style and what I look for in a bag.

Check out her video here and she explains everything about the bag! You will fall in love!

Because of her very big fanbase, the bags sold out in a day and they were not expecting so many people to buy them! So for now they are on back order, but you can preorder them and Kandee had also included a 15% discount code for you : "LUVKJ15"  you can preorder here.

I will be preordering mine next week! I need a new purse because the Coach messenger bag my mom got me last year is already breaking because I use it everyday!

I just wanted to share this with my readers! I hope you have an amazing weekend and see you in the next post!

Almost April

As always, the months keep flying by so quickly and alot has been happening. So once again, a new update. I keep saying I want to blog more, but life keeps happening, but I am gonna hunker down and just do it. I will try to blog every day, its going to be a personal goal of mine.

The biggest updates I have is that the cosmetology school I attended held a graduation ceremony for all those students who graduated from December to March. This included myself and most of my classmates. It was a really nice colorful ceremony and I can tell the students and staff went all out to make it special for us graduates! We even had "Oscar" awards that were golden mannequin heads! I received one for "Best Hugs" hahahaha I always hugged everyone because it puts a smile on everyones face. I mean, who doesnt want a hug???

Since I work at Xotic Eyes, of course I had to rock one of our designs to add some fun to my makeup look.

It was good to see my classmates and other students that I havent seen in a while. I made some best friends while attending Rudy & Kelly Academy. It made me miss my Paul Mitchell Family so much.

My husband AKA my camera paparazzi took pictures for me! I was so proud to have him there supporting me while I attended school!

Jinaki, Rock and myself!
Me, Jak Jak and Liz
My Terry and I! She made the Deans List- first ever for our school. I am so stinkin proud of her! You go Terry!

With teh amazing Ms. Karen! I love her so much!
I wanted to share this moment with everyone! The program at Paul Mitchell is almost a year long and I was really apprehensive about even attending hair school, but it turned out to be the most amazing experience of my life! It was the first time I graduated and completed any type of school, even though I attended 3 colleges prior, I was never able to complete any degrees and I am so proud to have finished this program!

It has opened more doors for me than I can count and I have met some lifelong friends that I will always be in touch with. I hope you enjoyed "attending" with me! Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you again soon!

Hawaiian Paradise

One of my friends from Paul Mitchell Academy contacted me to draw up a tattoo design with a pair of shears and flowers. Hawaiian flowers. As I was pulling up reference photos for the flowers, I was secretly wishing I really was in Hawaii using real flowers as a reference instead of my computer screen.

I have only been to Hawaii once when visiting my best friend in 2007 and I had so much fun. Just bear with me as I go down memory lane. hahaha

With each new drawing, I try to improve my skills in sketching, my line work and of course my shading. Shading makes all the difference in the world, especially in tattoos. I cant wait for me to apprentice.

Here is a sketch I rendered for my friend. I am going to make a few ad, as this was just the first draft of ideas. But tell me what you think

I am going to draw up something a lil different for the next drawing. Tweaking it as I like to call it.

Just wanted to share this with yall and I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for stopping by!

The reason why people give up so fast is because they tend to look at how far they still have to go, instead of how far they have gotten.

Hampton Roads Art Festival

My husband and I attended the 2nd Annual Hampton Roads Tattoo Arts Festival Expo 2012 this past saturday. It was the first expo either one of us has gone to and we were super excited to go to experience it. We met up with a few friends of mine who are tattoo artists and saw them in action. It was a small convention but it wasnt too bad. The sounds of buzzing tattoo machines hummed in the air everywhere we turned.

I wasnt able to get any tattoo equipment because you have to be licensed here in Virginia :( but I did talk with a friend of mine who tattoos at UBX Tattoo Shop and she introduced me to the owner and Im hoping to get an apprenticeship soon. (Im keeping my fingers crossed) I met with him today and showed some of my artwork, I hope it was enough to want to take me on as an apprentice. ahhhhh we'll see.

I wore this lightening bolt from Xotic Eyes on my shaved head side for fun while going to the expo. Alot of people liked it. Xotic Eyes was asked to be a vendor at the expo, but they decided not to do it. I think alot of people would have liked it.

Here is some pictures, just a few I snapped. There were cars and motorcycles on display. There was a pinstripper there too and many other artists there showing off their art.

My friend throwin down ink.
One of the cool things we did was get our characatures drawn up. But not just any characature, a ZOMBIE CHARACATURE! We heard alot about the hype and we got one drawn up and we were not disappointed. We paid $60 for it ( $30 per person for color drawing) and we love it. What do you think?

I love the artist we had draw us. The lil touches such as the lightening bolt actually bolted down in my head..... priceless. You can check out their website at http://www.zombiecaricatures.com/.

The rest of the expo was fun and interesting. There was a Pin Up Girl contest, and wrestling, live bands and a dj keeping the energy going. Ami James from NY INK was there too signing autographs. It was an all around good time for me and Jermie. I hope to go next year too. I am glad that it is finally coming to my neck of tthe woods and I dont have to travel outside of the 7 cities to attend one. hahahaha

I bought some jewelry too from some of the local boutiques too.Ill blog about them in my next post! I just wanted to share some pics I took. Thanks for stoppin by! See you in the next post!

Fuschia

I know I blogged about changing my hair to a silver blue, well, my hair decided to be stubborn and the silver wasnt working and neither was the blue. I tried a new brand of temporary colors and it didnt come out at all how I liked, in fact, too embarrassing to even post. We didnt even take a picture of it. And when I say we, I mean Jak Jak and I.

We decided to go with Pink and violet and of course, those mixed together made a gorgeous fuschia. Jak Jak lifted my hair as high as we could. I had some stubborn red from last summer that didnt budge. She gave me a really cute layered haircut that I wanted in a picture I found online. So here is what we ended up with which I love so much more. It was time I got out of the teal and blue phase of the color wheel.

In case you are wondering, I do have some black extensions in my hair. They are clip ons that I got at the Hair supply store. They are synthetic, but can be curled or smoothes with irons up to 400 degrees. I will do a post and review them, maybe I will do a quick lil video on them.

I have lots planned in the next week to share with you. So, I wanted to start with my hair update. Sorry it took me so long to post, its been a busy weekend since hubby and I went to the tattoo expo. I will share that experience as well.

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Style Alert: Galaxy Print

I am obssessed with galaxy print! And Stars! And anything having to do with the vast universe. Something about it hypnotizes me and draws me in. Maybe its that feeling of something bigger than us in this world that is beautiful and unknown. Galaxy prints were popular last year and it seems the trend is still in the running. Which knowing this makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. hehehe

You can do a google search of "galaxy inspired fashion" and you can find all sorts of things. I saved a few of my favs and wanted to share them with you.

Of course I have done a few things galaxy inspired like this makeup shoot and a custom guitar!

I am so inspired. I want to design a whole line of galaxy or something! I am even going to have my chest piece filled with galaxies and stars one of these days.

Well, I am off to attempt to start spring cleaning with the kiddos! Have a wonderful sunday and a beautiful weekend!
