Hair’spiration

As much as I like to say I am taking a break form doing my hair all crazy, some time has passed, and I am getting that itch again. I am on the search of a salon that will fit my style (at least until I have my own studio) and if you have been with me since the last time I looked for a salon, I talked about the importance of being yourself and not changing who you are for anyone. I didn’t take my own advice last year, I allowed my judgment to be blinded by an upscale salon and putting my own image and style on the back burner, and what happened? Lets just say in the end, it didn’t work out. No amount of money and drama will be worth sacrificing who you are and what you stand for.

With that being said, I am keeping that in mind when I am looking for a salon to call home. My interview yesterday went well, and I am definetely considering working there. (more details if I decide to go there) I still have a few interviews to go.

I have decided to being back the shaved side, as I miss it so much and realize it has become my statement style. I have already had my hair colored various colors such as purple, red, turquoise, blue, green, yellow, orange, so I am trying to decided what to do next. Here is some of my inspiration I have been obsessing over.

 

As you can probably tell, I am leaning towards teal and pink, simply because I have not done that combination yet. I have done purple and teal, but I have not done a pink at all- the red I used to have just fades to pink. hahaha

And speaking of things I am obsessed about lately, here are some fashion trends I am lusting over right now!

New Pup adventures and VINE

Good afternoon my lovies! How is everyone doing? I just got back from taking the pup for a walk and sweating my butt off because the humidity is kickin high today, at least in my area. I live about 2 1/2 miles from the beach, so its not too bad, but it’s a bit muggy.

We picked up our new puppy, Mystique, last night and she was a lil out of it due to her surgery. She is such a lovie dovie dog, and she slept with us all night long. She was afraid of the stairs, so she has been avoiding them, but the kiddos trained her by bribing her with food.

I already have a funny story! So, you know I am a hairstylist and I have a few mannequin heads lying around, I threw one of the old ones on the floor and she went full frontal attack on it! It was actually quite hilarious. I managed to get a small video of it. I posted it on my new Vine Account, so if you wanna check it out, Find me I am user Sweet Surrender!

I have a busy week! I am in search of a salon that is close to where I live, (at least in the same city) and also that suits me and my style and of course, my clients. I have a few interviews set up through out the week and next and I will more than likely be going back to my shaved side and bright colored hair, because I simply cannot stay away!

I have tons of tattoo designs to draw up for clients and I have been a bit behind. Oh yea, before I forget, I did a couple more tattoos, just did some filler, which I am not done, and did my first cover up. I am still practicing, so please bare with me!

I am slowly building myself up and my skills.

Mother and Father

Today has double meaning for me because not only is today Father’s Day, but it is also my Mother’s Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my mom, she is one of the most strongest and inspirational women I know. I am blessed to have a mother who always guides me, teaches me right from wrong, gives me unwanted advice that I usually always take, and has been there for me in my darkest moments to give me the light and love to help guide me through the storm.

I am so proud of my mom for everything she has gone through and being an amazing mother and role model to myself and my brothers, she is not here for us to celebrate her birthday because she is on deployment in the Navy! We cant wait to see when she gets back next month!

It is Father’s Day and my dad just moved down to Florida, so he is not here either! Like my mother, he is such an inspiration. This man has gone through so much and fights on like a soldier, never stoping and never giving up. He has been a powerful person in my life and has been there for me when I really needed help and helped find me when I was lost. I am my father’s only child, and totally a daddy’s girl!

I am so blessed to have both these people in my life to love me and support me unconditionally. Thank you to both of you for making me who I am today.

I love you both!

Adoption Saturday

The hubby, kiddos and myself have been wanting to get a dog or a cat for quite some time now. I had stopped by a shelter a few days ago with my brother and saw a few dogs. I wanted to get an older dog to give them a second chance, but my hubby really wanted a puppy. So, we looked at this cute girl who was found on a leash tied to a door outside. Poor thing, she is 6 months old and is so loveable! We instantly fell in love!

The coolest part that we all loved is that she has one blue eye and one brown eye! Her name was “Monique” but we changed it to “Mystique” like from Xmen!

I just wanted to share and introduce the newest member of our family to my readers!

We have to wait to pick her up till Monday, she is scheduled to get her surgery and microchip! We are so excited, and we cant wait to bring her home!

Motivational Mondays- Get off your butt

Mondays can be a drag if you let it be. I woke up this morning in a great mood. Lately, I have been going to bed and listening to hypnosis sleep techniques on Youtube. I have been a little stressed out and anxious so I have been meditating and trying to clear my negative energy.

After I dropped off my hubby to work, I came home and got on the treadmill. I found an awesome work out video playlist that really kept me going. I want to share it with you.

I love this video because about every 30 seconds or so, a motivational quote displays and just when I want to stop, the next quote will push me. I need that lil nudge sometimes.

New Updates to my You Tube!

Happy Thursday! This week has been filled with organization, productivity, planning, editing, drawing, designing, and a whole bunch of other things, which is why there has been a lack of posts. I have been participating in the YouTube Academy online course to help spruce up my channel. So far, I have updated my channel art to include some of my face and body paint artwork. I made a quick channel trailer as well, which newcomers will see if they have not yet subscribed. Check it out!

I have been drawing of course and reworking some designs that had a few changes.

 

For any small business owners and entrepreneurs, i f you are looking for spreadsheets, invoices or project list templates, Microsoft Office has tons of them for free.

I helped my friend and soon to be business partner, Lah (who is a fabulous Nailist) color her dreads. She usually has her dreads blonde, but she has been wanting something different. I used Pravana Purple and pink and I love the effect the color had on her dreads. It has almost a rainbow ombre’d effect. She is going to retwist her hair, so I will have a more updated photo for ya! It felt good to do some hair. I am still waiting on my license to get mailed to me, so I am keeping myself more than busy!

 

My friend, Jackie flew into town this morning from South Carolina, to spend some time with me and for her baby shower were having later this weekend. If you don’t remember who Jackie is, let me refresh your memory:
