Princess for a Day

It has been so busy this week, and I finally got a night to type up some blogs. I really try to blog everyday, but it gets hard when I dont have an ipad or a tablet or even a smart phone hahaha But that is on the bottom on my list of needs/wants for right now.

Last saturday, I participated in Princess for a Day at Rudy & Kelly Paul Mitchell Partner School. We get to dress up in pretty dresses and little girls come in dressed up as princesses and they get their own crown and their hair curled, a mini eyeshadow application, lip gloss and nail polish. I had brought my face paint so if any of them wanted to have something on their cheek I could whip out my paint brush and make them even more glamourous!

We felt like princesses ourselves :)

My daughter finally let me do her hair!

She loves these events!
We are having this event again soon. I believe sometime next month! I dont think I will do it again just so other future pros have a chance to do it. But I had a blast and I am glad all the girls did. I wish they would do a "Super Hero for a Day" so that all the boys have something cool to go to. I could do their facepaint and spike their hair up because I know my son Matthias would love it! When I have my salon/boutique, I will def be having those events for my special little guests :)

Thanks for stopping by my sweets!

My boyfriend calls me princess, but I think of myself more along the lines of monkey and retard.

Neptune Festival

A few days ago, my friend and I went to the Neptune Festival here at Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Neptune Festival is one of my favorite events of the year. There is so much going on for it such as Sand Castle building competitions, surfing competitions, rides and fun things for kids to do and wine tasting, and then the arts and crafts show which is the main reason I like to go.

I was mainly looking for one particular vendor that came last year and he made these beautiful statues and figurines made of plaster, so they were super cheap and easy to paint. I ended up buying a mermaid and painted it these awesome colors. I love this mermaid sooooo much, so I was looking forward to possibly buying more from him so I could paint them and maybe create an ETSY shop selling them. But he wasnt there. I was sooo sad. I did manage to get a card from him but of course I left it in my pants and it got washed in the washer. aaaaagggghhhhhh!!!!

But check out these other cool vendors that I love!

I want to buy these for my boutique salon!

I think this is a cow hat/scarf

This is a vanity made out of antique wood

I love this with Frakenstein on it!

This is such a beautful piece!

this mermaid is sooo pretty!

We walked up and down the boardwalk and no luck. I was searching also for just a plain burger and fries and I finally found a food vendor that had it. hahahaha I am such a picky eater sometimes.

There was this really cool tent that had all these hats and scarves and sweaters made of I wanna say wool or something but they were handmade and sooooo adorable. I really wanted this tiger one! They were so warm and thick and soft. Many other people had bought them because it was a chilly day on Sunday, me and Jackie even had our scarves on.

I did end up buying this really awesome earring and yes I only bought one. The pair was $29.99 but I only had a lil cash just so I wouldnt spend everything, so I bought one for $14.99. It is 100% Sterling Silver and I dont know what it is about this piece and the face and how it is broken, but I fell in love with it and now it never leaves my ear, except to sleep and shower hahahaha

What was your favorite thing you saw? I think my favorite is the tiger scarf lol its just too cute!

Thanks for stopping by my lovies!!!

Taste the RAINBOW

I teamed up with my friend T'tielle a few days ago during our photoshoot class to practice on my Day of the Dead makeup, which turned out A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! (If you missed out on it, click here). So, the next day, it was her turn to do my hair and makeup. She wanted to do a Skittles Candy Theme. We tried to glue Skittle to my eyebrows but we werent able to get them to stick without cutting them in half ( I forgot my exacto knife which would have worked perfectly!) She ended up putting loose glitter overwhere the Skittles should have been. We had fun attempting to put candy on my face. hahaha

T'Tielle has a very bright and fun outgoing personality so I thought it was perfect that she wanted to do this rainbow theme makeup. I love that she wanted to use blue as a blush on my cheeks. I love anything out of the box!

Our friend, Jinaki "Naki Saki" braided up my hair and curled it so it would be fun and bouncy! Then paired with my most brightest yellow top and green dress, I took a few pictures. I look like an 80's commercial for Rainbow Brite or Skittles. hahahahaa

The other girls in my class looked so AMAZING too!

And this last picture, I had to take with the "fish face" just to mock all the girls that do that face when they take pictures. and you know what I am talking about. We all used to do it. lol

What the Heck is CAPER?

I have been mentioning Caper for a few posts online and I have been getting the question, "What is Caper?"

Caper is an educational experience held for Future Professionals only. Three days of non-stop entertainment, inspirational speaking and amazing education from Paul Mtichell's Advanced Academy Memebers and Global Artistic Team, such as Robert Cromeans, Angus Mitchell and Takashi...just to name a few.

Its a chance for us future pros to learn directly from the top stylists doing haircutting and color and so much more. We get to have fun along the way too, especially at the All White Party I have heard so much about.

But we cannot just buy a ticket and go there, we have to EARN our way to get to Vegas by selling Caper Bags. Each school across the country is provided with certain amounts of bags and we have to sell 40 of the product bags, or 8 of the Tool bags and it pays for our ticket and hotel stay  and airfare to go.

Here are the bags:

Tuesday is our CAPER KICK OFF at school and we are doing a school POT LUCK and we get to wear Caper Colors of product lines. I am making Lumpia and fried rice! Which will be yummy!

I am so determined to go to Caper not just because it is in Vegas, but because this is an awesome opportunity to actually learn from the Pros and have a fun time. I have been offering some of my clients free hair cuts and style if they purchase a bag or two in my name and so I have a few of them ready to be sold on Tuesday!

The bags can be sold through the month of October, but its only until the supplies last, and last year, our school sold out in 6 days! So I have been on my grind to get these bags sold!

Please, anyone that would like to purchase and help me get to CAPER, please contact me at cecilia@sweetsurrenderart.com. Anyone can call up to the school as well as place the order and pay with a credit card to reserve it. If I need to ship it out to anyone, I would gladly ship it to you for free if you are not in the 757 area!

Thanks for stopping by as always, I appreciate every one of you who take the time out to read my lil blog!

Day of the Dead

Yesterday, we did something special during class that we normally dont get to do as much and we got a chance to have a photoshoot at school. We partnered up, had to make story boards and then complete the look.

It took me forever to think of a good theme to do that wasnt too crazy or weird. Lately I have been planning what Halloween looks I want to do you some upcoming tutorials, but after walking around Micheals Craft store forever, I finally decided to do Dia De Los Muertos AKA Day of the Dead.

Take a look!

My story board for this look! and part of my set up

My model: T'Tielle Before

Her and I after :)

It was so much fun doing this. I have been wanting to recreate this type of look for a while now, and so I couldnt make an excuse not to do it when we had to do this photoshoot.

For anyone interested in how I did this or what products I used, I am going to make a tutorial on it, hopefully I can get it done this weekend in time for anyone wanting to do this.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a fantabulous day!

Fantastiliscious

I cant believe it is going to be friday yet again. Where has time gone? I feel like I just posted something yesterday but it has been almost a week! I am laying in bed, in my jammies watching Pirates of The Carribean Dead Man's Chest and attempting to write this (my eyelids are getting so heavy), I just stuffed my face with two Reeses peanut butter cups (pulled fresh from the freezer...sooooo good when they are frozen!) which is my desert from the spaghetti I had earlier.

Few updates: I colored my hair, or I should say my friend Jackie colored my hair and it turned out frickin fantastiliscious! hahahaha

Red, Purple and Blue Hair

Birds eye view

Side view of color madness!

I love this sooo much and it is my fav color of my hair as of RIGHT NOW> until I change it again. hahaha. I was originally going to just redo the red I had before using Hot Topic's Vampire Blood Color, but I still had some of my blue CHI Color and so Jackie wanted to have a lil fun so I gave her the OK to have at it.

The best part is that they are my 3 fave colors and it matches my star tattoo, my Sweet Surrender tattoo and my mermaid tattoo! LOVE!!!

I also completed this floral tattoo design for a friend that she plans on getting a side piece tattoo. I really wish I knew how to tattoo already. Once I graduate from Paul Mitchell, I am on the hunt for an artist who is willing to teach me.

Hibiscus, small flowers, stars and scrolls tattoo design

Then yesterday we had a TORNADO! jeez, first earthquakes, then a hurricane now a tornado. Check out this cool pic of it though that I found online after the tornado had passed

I was down at Micheals Craft store when the tornade came from nowhere and it was crazy. There was lightening every 2 seconds and thunder following swiftly behind. I had screamed a few times while in the car because the thunder was so loud and the lightening seemed like it was right in front of me. I usually dont mind a good thunderstorm, but tornados and hurricanes....NO THANK YOU!

I stocked up on a few supplies at micheals and at the Halloween stores for a few of my halloween makeup tutorials, so I am super excited to show them soon!

Well, I am off to bed to rest up for another hectic day tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by as always!

FREE HUGS & More!

Today was a busy day, almost like everyday but there was just an energy in the air almost electrofying...well, at least to me anyways.  We had our Townhall day yesterday (where we get a day off, but the learning leaders have training-so like a teacher work day haha), but we still get our hours as long as we do our "Homeplay"-they dont like to say "homework" so instead they insert play. We had to come up with a PATRIOTIC updo or theme and we could use accessories, well, I decided to do something different. Check it out!

After lunch, we went and had FREE HUGS DAY! This is an event that ALL Paul Mitchell Schools all over the country go out into the community at the same time and give Free Hugs to people and share our Paul Mitchell "Be Nice or Else" Culture.

Here is a video from our school last year!

I am still editing the video footage that I shot, but in the meantime, here are some images to feast your eyeballs on!

Mr. Rudy himself of Rudy & Kelly Salons out for FREE HUGS!

I love my Ms. Emily!

My carribean loves! Jinaki and Titielle

I really love how these pics came out. I used my SONY BLOGGIE. I am impressed! Outside light looks amazing with this camera...but inside light-not so much. But I still love it!

I mailed out my entry form, my photos and everything in my packet to the Top Photo Stylist Contest for Paul Mitchell Schools today! I love my photos and the experience I had while doing the photoshoot, but I have bigger aspirations and I see where I can improve. So, I am really eager to do more photoshoots and expand on this aspect of hair and makeup. On  a positive note, I can say that this photoshoot wasnt bad for my first one. There is def more to come!

Here is the video that I edited for our Free Hugs Event! Check it out- there are tons of funny moments!

As always, thanks for stopping by and dont forget I have a giveaway going on for My Memories! Open till friday!

Quote of the day:
I believe anything is possible. Research into quantum physics proves that a system changes simply by someone observing it. Therefore, all you have to do is be awake and aware of your environment, and that enables you to transform everything around you. It sounds like hocus pocus, but scientists are coming to realize that just thinking about something can make it happen. Turns out maybe faith can move mountains.
